I saw him take a nasty tackle, I can't remember what footballer did it. but it definatley looked like a deliberate attack on his ankle rather than the ball. It goes on unfortunately.
He's a genious when it comes to football or soccer as you call it so if any one can help raise interest in the game over there he can. If not were have him back you can keep Victoria.

I don't actually think he is dim. He just is not a very good talker and has a bit of a funny voice. So he comes across as dim.
He just has other talents.

Seriously there is no way Football/soccer is bigger over there per head of popuation. it is just mental over here, cricket, Rugby which is more like your american football are really sideline sports compared to. I know your a bigger country but no way is your interest in football match ours not that I want to really go down line of mine is bigger than yours I just know that it is. it is our national game, any other sport unfortunately does not much figure. In term of Becks being on a leash well that much I will agree with you with. But he does have balls Golden Balls :-)

In England we have a game which is really similar to Baseball but you never see it played anywhere. I used to really like it we call it rounders but beyond Primary school it never get played. I like Basket ball as wll maybe I should emigrate.

Too early to tell, as he hasn't seen much action. I think most of North America couldn't care less about his off-field antics, and I'll likely vomit if I hear one more time about how he and Posh are friends with Tomkat.

Personally I'm quite taken with Victoria, she's pretty darn awesome.
As far as Becks goes, we Americans just don't get soccer (football/futbol). Different groups have tried for years to push it, I live in Atlanta and we had both men's and women's pro teams - they just couldn't draw the crowds / sponsors / dollars that Baseball, Basketball and American Football can.
We've heard and seen more about Posh than Becks since they came over, I just don't think he'll make much of a difference in the way we view soccer over here.

Well as an American i can tell you Posh and Becks are all over the newspapers and television over here. Not a day goes by that I don't see a picture or article of those two. Maybe if Posh smiled a bit more she would be more well liked. I understand she doesn't like her smile but here she comes across as snooty. Becks comes across as a man on a doggy leash. Being controlled entirely by his wife. We know he is superstar athlete we are just not sure if he has any balls.
As for football or as we say soccer it is a very big sport over here just not the ONLY sport. Millions of school kids participate in soccer all over the country. We have a phrase for these kid's mothers we call them Soccer Mom's. All throughout Suburbia millions of Soccer Mom's take their little darlings to soccer practice so one day they can be as good as Becks or if they are a girl our very own Mia Hamm! You see soccer has to compete with the hearts of children for baseball, football(american style), basketball, hockey, golf, tennis, boxing, etc. BUT I would bet my money that more in America play soccer then all of the UK. Just the sheer number of kids involved in sports here who play more then one sport. It's just that more kids like the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB. But it is coming along. It may never top American style football( i don't know why they call it football even though they kick field goals and punts handball well that's another sport )but soccer it is popular just not number one. Maybe Americans should call football American Rugby and on your side Cricket could be called English baseball..

I have taken to Victoria =P ... Beckham is great for MLS - people want to see him play and they will as soon as his injury gets better - basically he got screwed because he took the advice of the Real Madrid staff and decided (for whatever reason) to help a team that he would never play for again win La Liga even if meant worsening his condition, so its not entirely his fault that he is not playing (but he will be playing, just wait)

he is quite a nice man actually (ive met him) and does a lot of work for charity (doesnt like to talk about it ), but he is the most over hyped english sportsperson since frank bruno and he is just as incoherent. next time he is interviewed hust listen to the amount of times he says 'YOU KNOW' during interview. he is what we in england call nice but dim

Since he doesn't play in any matches, right now it's the biggest farce ever in North American pro sports.

I don't follow celebrities too closely, but from what I have seen of both of them, they are intelligent, hard-working and ambitious persons who deserve all the success they've had in their careers.
