I'm not deaf but I do sign and grew up with many friends who are deaf. They enjoy the same things we do. Those who have more severe hearing loss of course won't hear the actual music so they pick up on the vibrations and beat of the music. The signed interpretation of the music does the same thing for them as it does for us when we hear the words. Just a different way to hear the world.

In order for someone to feel the vibrations of the music, the music must be loud enough. The lower frequencies vibrate at a lower decibel level than the high frequencies. This is why you often 'feel' the base of the car next to you that is playing loud music, but not the treble. It's true that people that are deaf can still enjoy the music by feeling the vibrations (mostly from the bass sounds), and can enjoy the words by watching the interpreter.

You have to remember that there are different degrees of hearing loss. Many 'deaf people' have some partial hearing with a hearing aid, but are certainly not in a position to hear a detailed explanation of the music they just listened to. So for this reason a sign language interpreter is useful. Some people are completely deaf, but can feel the beat of the music.

Yes, they feel the vibration of the music. I have helped at a dance for deaf children. The speakers were laying on the floor. They all had a great time.

I am unsure of the "how it works" but I have a friend that cannot hear a blasted thing! however if his back is to me and I need his attention, I stomp on the floor (his are wooden). He also enjoys music. If I were to guess, I would have to say that it is the underlying beat, the rythm if you will, that he feels... lord knows I feel it through my entire body.

yes they do enjoy the vibrations. i know a little sign language as i studied it years ago and i have a family member who is a certified instructor.
my aunt was blind but she still enjoyed movies, the dialog anyway. she said in her mind was the pictures. sometimes she'd ask us to describe the way someone looked but that was about it. she also played the guitar, sang and even put on her own makeup.
