Iraq is understandable... but Afghanistan? Even the former director of the CIA (who voiced his anti-Bush administration and anti-Iraq war feelings in an interview recently) is a proponent of this war. We went in to capture terrorists, and that's what we did. So why do I still hear people who think this war was wrong?

Edit - Let me reword that "Iraq is understandable" part. I don't mean that Iraq is a good war necessarily, I mean I can understand why so many people are against that war.

Any war is going to be considered wrong today. It's probably because we have had quick victories in Iraq before, quick in Panama, and also in Yugoslavia. Americans are spoiled and now they are impatient. Look at World War I. Not a very glamourous war and it was pretty long since America Hadn't had a respectable opponent in more thatn 25 years. We wera able to go through World War II because we had been through World War I.

" Iraq is understandable"? I don''t thinks so, it was and is based on false information and lies, as Saddam posed no threat to our security, had no association or part n 9/11.
Afghanistan? well, the story we were led to believe and agreed with was to get and eliminate Osama, and we can all see where that got us. Russia fought these people for how many years without even the slightest victory, even now we are in the same stalemate with no end in sight.
Our goal in the area was not to get or take out the Taliban, but to capture Osama, another pipe dream.
Just a thought, but I wish someone could explain the idiotic thumbs down to "KK" when she offered no opinion or answer.

Attacking afghanistan to get to Bin laden was right.
Bin laden is now in Pakistan.
We now have no business in afghanistan.
The way things stand now, if you accept the fact that we need to be in afghanistan now, then you must accept the fact that we need to be there for eternity...and I dont think we went there to be there for eternity.
We cant occupy all countries in the mideast.
These occupations will always meet resistance.....and feeds right into the propaganda of the radical extremists...and only fuels more hatred of the west.
We need to get out....installing puppet regimes and then saying we have to stay to protect them is a rather imperial attitude.
