Ok my grandparents had this empty plant pot sitting out on their back porch along with lots of other pots that had various plants in them. Then one day this weird plant started growing in ALL the pots including the empty one. They don't know where it came from but my grandpa (being the paranoid one he is) thought it might be illegal. So can you tell me what it possibly is? Here are 2 pictures I took with my phone of it.

It looks like Tulsi or Holy Basil

Ocimum tenuifolium (known as Holy basil in English, and Tulasi in Sanskrit), is a well known aromatic plant in the family Lamiaceae. Apart from its culinary uses, for which it is known across the world, it is also used as a medicinal plant, and has an important role within many traditions of Hinduism, wherein devotees perform worship involving Tulasi plants or leaves. Native to India, it is a short lived perennial herb or small shrub, often grown as an annual. The foliage is green or purple, strongly scented. Leaves have petioles, and are ovate, up to 5cm long, usually somewhat toothed. Flowers are white, tinged purple, borne in racemes.

Its aroma is distinctively different from its close cousin, the Thai Basil which is sometimes wrongly called Holy Basil, but they can be distinguished by their aroma and flavour. Holy Basil is slightly hairy, whereas Thai Basil is smooth and hairless; Holy Basil does not have the strong aniseed or licorice smell of Thai Basil.

I hope this helps.

Well, the tall ones do look a little like basil, but there are plants that resemble basil but are only weeds. You can crush a leaf and see if it is aromatic like basil. There is a smaller plant that has a five leaf bundle, but I am assuming is the possible illegal plant? It's not illegal, it's just a weed and don't mean the kind you smoke.

each and every determination has advantages, and down-components. authentic flowers are lots extra relaxing to have in the tank as they improve, reproduce, and supply the fish something to %. at. Biologically, they eliminate some nitrogen from the device and bring oxygen for the fish. i be conscious of a few people who've tanks that are in basic terms thoroughly planted and have not have been given any fish using fact they take excitement in the planted factor lots. you are able to upload CO2, severe lighting fixtures, and ferts, and turn your tank right into a jungle in a be counted of weeks. There are some massive down components nonetheless. If appropriate care isn't prepared on the water, flowers can rot, that would properly be poisonous to the fish. there is likewise a lot of pruning with the quickly starting to be flowers, that would properly be a difficulty to three. As reported above, planted tank set united statesmight properly be high priced, yet once you save on with low gentle flowers including java fern, you may get by utilising with the inventory aquarium kits. in case you do flow planted, attempt java fern and java moss till now each and every little thing, and confirm what you're paying for isn't meant for a terrarium. Plastic flowers are great when you consider which you are able to set them and overlook them. You %. out what you like and that's quite lots it. they do no longer do something to benefit/injury the chemistry of the tank, and don't require any artwork (different than the occasional rinse). maximum fish won't care in case you utilize authentic or pretend so it finally comes right down to what you like. on your daughter, i could advise utilising pretend flowers and upload in low maintenance authentic flowers using fact the tank matures (you've gotten the two). you may get an air pump, tubing, and an air stone for roughly $15-$20, which will upload a lot of oxygen to the water. you will possibly desire to purchase adorns with air stones outfitted into them and that they are quite cool besides. puppy save workers hardly be conscious of what they are conversing approximately whilst it is composed of aquariums, so do exactly the analyze first and you'd be nice.

It looks like there are two different plants. One does look similar to basil, but the other has a different kind of leaf. Neither plant is illegal though. I can't believe it grew that much! I would not put it in the garden though, it will probably take over!

It looks similar to basil... which would give off a smell like all herbs do. Tell Granpa it's nothing illegal. I'm guessing it's a wayward ground cover of some sort . Pull it all up before it takes over. You can take a couple of leaves to a nursery and they can tell you what it is.
