I actually heard that Bush said (and I am NOT kidding on this), that the border control agents were convicted by a jury, and he would not interfere with their decision.
I guess it's OK to interfere when it's your VP's chief of staff, but a couple of low-level law enforcement agents don't warrant consideration.
I will see if I can find a real quote by Bush on this.
OK-here it is:
``I'm not going to make that kind of promise in a forum like this,'' Bush said at the event, which was intended to focus on his budget and economic policies. ``I know it's an emotional issue, but people need to look at the facts. These men were convicted by a jury of their peers after listening to the facts.''
He referred to the prosecutor in the case, U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, as ``my friend,'' and called him ``an even-handed guy.''

The patrol agents are trying to appeal their cases. A pardon will release them but not clear their records. Bush's friend was the prosecuting attorney.

Bush took his orders in their case from the president of Mexico. The guy actually called Bush and interferred in the case.
If what I've said is a lie then Lou Dobbs told it!

George,
This is the third letter I have sent you, about those two Border Patrolmen, that has been railroaded, by one of your "friends"!! Now George, like I said to you before, you are making it VERY, VERY hard, for anyone to appreciate the conservative side of the political issues when you, supposedly representing the conservatives, tolerate such an injustice, the misrepresentations, the omission of factual evidence, the partial truths, and the out and out falsifications that were presented to the jury, as to what had been committed by these two patriots !!!
GEORGE, " IT JUST TAINT RIGHT" !! Tell MS, L and the girls HI !!! See you at our next hunting camp get together.

Logical Reason is Johnnie Sutton is Bush's old AG in Texas and was Bush's choice to be Federal prosecutor in W. Texas. Pardoning Ramos and Compean makes Johnnie Sutton look bad even if it's the right thing to do.

What is the logical reason for some advocating the release of rogue agents who took the law into their own hands and blatantly murdered an unarmed suspect?

Are you talking about the two agents who were found guilty of shooting a fleeing man in the back and then trying to cover it up?
Yeah, those guys are heroes.

None I can think of. I do not know the particulars of the case but it does seem ridiculous.
