It's for a wedding reception. I've seen things like this before (example; at Christmas a lot of people have "Santa" displayed on their house), but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Instead of the regular flashing lights on the dance floor, I want a "S". Anyone know of any website I can search? Or even what this is called?

Its called a rope light. just search it anywhere.

Use one of those "shop lights" with the clamp hangers on it. Make a stencil of the letter S and place it on the shield front. It should cast the letter onto the floor.
