I have been married for five years now.
And the one thing I can tell you is.
You should celebrate your anniversary the way you and the way you want to express yourself to your partner. And it is also good to communicate to each other how you would like to celebrate it. Unless it is a surprise for your partner than you will have to try to figure out what your partner would like to do. However, If you want to go all out with it there is nothing wrong with it because every married couple that has stepped over another year of marriage should celebrate it a lot in this kind of world. Having a good marriage is a true blessing.

Keep it simple because if you go over the top next year what in the world could you do to top it?

Personally, quiet for me. A maariage is something special between 2 people and it shoud be their choice how to celcrate it each year.
However, if you make the 50 year mark, someone should throw you a big party!

The fact that you remember and care enough to at least show it is special to you is enough. I wouldn't need a big celebration or elaborate gifts. Just the effort to make me and our relationship feel special is great!
