So my girlfriend has been on her period for like 3 weeks...she just got back on Birth Control. She told me she was off last night so we both went at it. Everything was fine, but after about 15-20 minutes I pulled out there was blood all over. She told me she stuck a tampon in earlier in the day and there was no blood on it at all. I'm worried that either I did something or something might be wrong with her...She also told me when she went to the doctor recently they tested her for some cancerous cells. She wouldn't tell me where, but I'm thinking it might be down there. Has this ever happened to you or a friend or can you HELP ME!?!?!

Elevated cancer cells does not nessacerialy mean cancer.

She should go to a doc. and see what they can do.

She maybe aneimic and her body is not adjusting to the pill very well. There are other methods of birth control.

Okay, take a deep breath, sweetie - I suspect things are going to be okay.

I had a period that went on for two months - I never thought it would end! I took birth control pills to stop the bleeding, but as it so happens, one can expect to get some breakthrough bleeding a few days into the pack as the body is adjusting to the synthetic hormones. Or, when you pulled out, depending on the color of the blood, you might have just been extracting old blood.

As for being tested for cancerous cells...well, unless your girlfriend has exhibited other, more serious, symptoms such as intense cramping, lower back pain extending to the leg, blood in her stool and/or incontinence (no control over her stool and/or urine), chances are she was getting an annual Pap Smear and Pelvic Exam - I get both of these done every year, and naturally, they test for cancerous cells.

I don't want to say that your girlfriend is looking for a little sympathy and/or attention (as I don't know her), but it wasn't right for her to be so vague with you - you sound so worried, and I'd be doing everything I could to put my man at ease.

Bleeding for that long can sometimes happen with birth control, its like overriding your bodies natural hormones and replacing them with different ones that will control the menstral cycle. Sometimes the bleeding will stop a little (in a regular 5-7 day period) but its kind of a false stop and it will come back for a little with sex but a normal period WILL stop Her birth control is most likely starting to take effect and she'll become regular. If she's never taken the pill then this all seems quite odd. If she does continue to bleed longer, then she really should see her doctor again to check it out. As for the cancerous cells it was probably an abnormal pap smear and they have to test for cancer when that happens. Abnormal cells could also be HPV which can also lead to cancer. If that is the case then you should think about getting an STD test yourself just to be on the safe side, men can get it too.

If she went to the doctor and had an abnormal Pap smear they test her for cancerous cells also known as Cervical Interepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) or Squamous Interepithelial Lesion (SIL). Cervical Dyspasia is NOT Cancer but it can turn into cancer if not treated. When I had an abnormal pap smear I ended up having surgery shortly after to remove it and I am fine now. They have about 5 different ways to treat it and for me they thought it would be best to do the cone biopsy which was just as painful as being in labor with out drugs. Here is a good link that will help you understand this better :

I see tons of people have great opinions. I can tell you now, it is not endometriosis. I have that condition, and it's not quite like that. There would have been blood clots with it, and sex is very painful. Did you ever consider that she may have thought she was pregnant, and may have taken the morning-after-pill? I don't know how old you two are, but I can guarantee the two of you need to talk. Just try not to corner her like an animal with too many insensititive questions. You will not like the outcome. She is definitely keeping something from you. She feels she cannot talk to you about it. Especially if she went for cancer testing without you, or without letting you know. And, just to be safe, go to the doctors' office yourself, just so you can have piece of mind. I hope you have luck with the lack of communication. Good luck!!

When my older sister got off of the depo shot she had like a 2 month long period and sometimes it would stop. She had endometriosis and they found cervical cancer. She simple had it removed and shes been fine ever since. I don't think YOU hurt her. I know its very scary but I'm sure she'll be fine! Just stay positive and of course make sure she goes back to the doctors. I hope this helps! Good luck!

I think she should see a doctor.I use to have my period for 2 weeks but that was because of a hormone imbalance, cause I have just started to see my period and the doctor gave me some pills and took blood test regularly cuz he was afraid I became anamic tht could happen to ur gf .So i think she should check a doctor so tht he can assign the proper treatment for her

It may be normal. One time I didnt have my cycle for two whole months and when I finally did get on, I stayed on for two months. This may be the reason for the time length problem. Also sometimes I think Im done but Im really not. Its called spotting. Nothing wrong there. But maybe she should go to a doctor.

She really needs to get back to her MD. Abnormal bleeding could be caused by being back on birth control, but it can also be caused by cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer, among other things. Three weeks of bleeding is something to be concerned about.

I love how you say ""went at it"" in other words, you made love..haha..it could be left over blood from her period or maybe you went really deep..she wouldn't tell you where she got tested at?..It sounds like you need to sit down with her and tell her you care about her and want to make sure she's healthy.
