With all the good things happening in the NBA is it safe to say the NBA is on its way back to being what it used to be? I know the NBA as an organization was fed up with the eastern con. not matching the western con. in competition-the low rating in this years finals was evident enough. Also, there are no more bum high school players coming into the NBA which makes for deeper draft filled with players who have legtimate experience-I think they should all stay for atleast 2 years in college though. This years draft had ATLEAST 2 future franchize players in it-I think it will be the best draft calss in history. With all these good trades happening (yes, boston) and draft picks like al horford and acie law IV in the atl, is it safe to say the nba is changing for good now? Not completely changed but on its way to being changed? Give me your opinions please. Thanks. :)

About the whole ref situation, I think, like all bad publicity, it will only increase the ratings. Now people are going to watch the games-mainly the refs, out of curiosity to see if the game has changed or how it has changed.

There are some great players coming out of this draft, but I'd like to see continued improvement in the on-court product before deciding if things are getting better.
The game had become a slow, plodding one-on-one league until the last few years, when teams like the Suns and Warriors started playing that throwback, shoot-quick offense. Having the game open up a little makes for a much more appealing product, and hopefully the kids coming in now can keep that up.
As for this being the best draft class ever, it's way too early to worry about that. They've got their work cut out to beat the 1984 group, which had four of the top 50 players of all time - Jordan, Hakeem, Charles Barkley, and John Stockton. But Oden and Durant could be franchise guys.

I dont believe there is a dramatic change in basketball. I believe the game is alot better than it was during the bulls/knicks/cavs era in the 90's where thug/slow down ball started bringing down scoring across the league. The game has picked up speed mainly because the change in rules and some teams are starting to implement that Euro run and gun play like the Suns.
The kids that are coming in the league this year I dont believe will have an immediate impact. The only year that rookie made an impact was the James/Wade/Anthony year but that is rare. The list of players from this years draft really was not as impressive as alot of experts stated they were leading up to the draft. After Oden and Durant it was a toss up as to who was the next best player.
It will be much of the same this year with low ratings and average play on the court. There will be alot of indifference after the 1st month of the season until the last few days of the season as far as players are concerned.
What i hate about the NBA that it got so fast, guys so big and quick that it has eliminated the fundamental ball player that can shoot, pass, dribble and knows the game.

I didn't think that the NBA needed improvement. When the Spurs are in the Finals they get low ratings because casual basketball fans don't see how good they are. The Eastern Conference is only weak compared to the awesome Western Conference. I think of the East as more competitive and therefore more entertaining. Now the young teams in the East are set to make moves and the rest of the league will take notice.
As far as the age limit goes, college recruiters take advantage of young impressionable players as much as NBA executives do. They are brought to school to play basketball and thats all. I think one year on an NBA team is better experience than one year on a NCAA team. Its just a rough start for players right from high school but in the long run it doesn't matter. Kobe and the Big Ticket sure didn't miss college. Luol Deng would've been just as good as he is now without one year at Duke and if not he wouldn't be far off. Even Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler found a place for themselves a few years later.
One thing that is improving the NBA by far is international players. You increase the amount of players to choose from and the quality is improved. It makes everyone play harder for their spot.

a bright spot is the recent emergence of the celtics due to the kg trade and ray allen draft day move. but that will help out alot with greg oden coming provides a new big man but the setback of the ref incident will linger for only the first half of the season but once the new dominance of power in the east and the west arises the nba will be anotha great league

yes the nba is becoming better because there is a balance of power now. but the east didnt always get beaten by the west in the finals. remember back in 06? 2004? now the games are going 2 be more exciting. battling for the title in the east will bring more competition instead if jus watching detroit get it. now, we have elite teams: boston, chicago, new jersey, toronto, atlanta, orlando. but no matter what, the east still cant compare wit the wild wild west. the surprise team 4 next year isnt the celtics, its the rockets: francis/tmac/yao is gonna carry them pretty far in the playoffs.

the ref scandal has hurt the nba. but the Minn. and Boston trade has helped a lot. the east is not as good as the west, but they're getting there. i still think commish stern needs to shake stuff up a bit. makes some major changes. you follow all this stuff? sweet!! I didn't know girls did that...

i agree...its definitely on it way to getting better, and more competetive, w KG, Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, all heading East to give that conference someone else to talk about besides CHI n DET...but um...about the best draft class in history...no...obviously 84 n 96, plus maybe 01 in terms of talented, solid role players...but they haven't even begun league play, so its too early to tell...i actually don't like the emphasis on the league's "at least 1 year to turn pro" status...they should be wanting to capitlize on proven players...instead of green, good-for-now preps...look at Bynum, Kwame Brown, cmon...it doesn't make the league more interesting to watch, because those guys don't win games...Greg Oden may become a flop, look at how he did in summer camp...Conley, Durant, Brewer, Aaron Banks, Horford, Noah...in that order...plus some others, but they still have to prove if they really should've left college so early...well...actually i like Noah n Brewer's decisions to at least stay one more year...look what they accomplished...no i think 3 years at the NCAA level really brings out the best players...but overall...i would agree with you that the NBA is at least becoming interesting to watch during the East-West games now...
btw...kudos on the "only non-tomboy chik on here" thing..i like that...its not that girls dont kno, its that some guys dont wanna give em da ryte credit, na? so yea...keep it up...

Good things happening to the NBA?! Didn't you hear about Tim Donaghy? NBA refs are now fixing games with the support of the Mob! That doesn't sound to good to me.
