I am looking to play football for my freshman year in highschool. I am 5'7 155 pounds I have good hands but my speed is only at an average lvl. I forgot how fast i can run a forty but it was around 4.6-5.0 seconds. I also have good coverage skills and plus i love to hit so im stuck with choosing a position that best suits me.

If you've got good hands and like contact, tight end might work for you. The love of hitting will help you in learning how to block properly and do it well, and your average speed won't hurt as much as it would at receiver. Many times, you'll be running short patterns after blocks and it's more important to learn proper route running at that position than it is to be really fast.

There is a huge difference between a 4.6 40 and a 5.0 40, join the band or some knitting club.

Linebacker - use the hands for interceptions and the hitting for fumbles. You don't need the best 40 as a linebacker, as sideline to sideline speed is what's important, as well as reading and reacting to the play.

Plus, as you grow, your body will change and you mave switch positions. Always an asset if you play special teams well.
