Those three player served suspensions for steroid use. Yet no fans bring huge syringe posters and asterisks posters to the games when they come in to pitch...why is that?

Selective outrage?

So if you use steroids, but are a middle tier player, its ok..but if you are a superstar and use steroids its bad?

It's not all about steroids. I am still a big Bonds fan but I can see why some people can't stand his attitude. He is not fan friendly. You cannot even play him in video games because he probably wanted too much money for the rights. He is a little greedy and not thankful for what baseball has provided him. So, I understand why fans boo. The others players are less know, probably less arrogant, and are not chasing the home run record, so people could care less.

I don't think people deep down really care about steroids.

Is it possible that those three mentioned were caught and at least served a sentence?

To many people, they have served their time. However, you aren't comparing these three to someone who was caught and was suspended. You are comparing them to someone who wasn't caught, admitted he did it and yet, served no time.

If Bonds had served a sentence for his use, perhaps it would be like a cleansing step for the fans. "see, I told you he used them, now he is sitting out 50 games, justice is served".

I know you could claim they would still boo him, but until it happens, we will never know.

Another explanation is that the other three make so little difference to baseball. If we didn't hear of any of them, would it change anything.

So, no, it's not ok if you are a middle tier player, it may be ok if you are caught and punished for it.
It's no longer a case of "did Barry use them", it's reality.

You're correct. The outrage is over breaking a revered record while cheating as opposed to cheating to hang on to a job. Bonds has the obvious personality issues, also. I think that if Clemens were approaching the all time win record, that steroids would have to be brought up, also.

I think that it's just plain stupidity and blindness. These players were tested positive and got busted. Barry was smart to use steroids and HGH when they were legal and not banned from MLB. Those three were dumb because they knew about the mandatory testing that Barry, Sammy, Mark and Rafael did not have to go through.

Maybe the people booing Barry are not true fans, but just people that snuck into Dodger Stadium just to start trouble.

They all boo Bonds because he is a great player and people think that it is because of steroids. The reason why he gets boos and these other players dont is because he is without a doubt one of the best players in the history of the game, and these other players mention don't make as much noise as Bonds. It is definately not ok to use steroids, whether your a middle tier plaer or an allstar, its just that since Bonds is successful more and more people dont want him to do good because of the steroids.

because Bonds is not only hated because of his attitude, he has taken performance enhancers, some of which were steroids

the big deal is because those other guys used it to maybe throw harder or hit the ball harder, it didnt affect their game all that much. it let mota throw maybe 3 mph harder. thats it

with Bonds however, whatever he took (steroids) gave him a huge size increase and massive muscle power. when you couple that with his sweet swing, you are guaranteed to hit a Home Run

and everyone (idc what you say you KNOW its true) that Barry Bonds without the aid of legal & ILLEGAL enhancers would never even be close to this record

Nope. Being a middle tier player doesn't make it OK, but it DOES mean that you won't be constantly rubbing people's noses in the fact that you cheated. That's what Bonds is doing with his record setting. Every time one of his records is mentioned in the future (until broken) his name will be attached, forcing us all to relive what is for baseball "the worst of times". I don't blame Hank Aaron and the Maris family for being upset by what has happened to their legacies thanks to the steroid era. They deserved better.
