Imus made comments directly at a certain group of individuals while Rosie just makes radical comments about society in general

Imus made racist COMMENTS (I'm not Black, but that was just stupid). Rosie ASKED A VALID, RHETORICAL QUESTION (she put herself in the other's person shoes). The intent is obvious. Imus judged, Rosie aimed to understand.

Radical comments are different than racist comments. I've never heard Rosie say anything like he said. Sure she says some things that are "out there" but I don't think she says anything like he did.

Because saying something even a little bit racial is politically incorrect. Saying ANYTHING negative about the government is celebrated, regardless of its validity or viciousness.

Calling a group of people "nappy headed ho's" is a whole lot different than saying that conservatives/liberals have a different opinion than herself.
