No, we hammer that ethos into kids and wonder why they don't lie by saying "my dad is coming" or whatever when approached by an unsavoury stranger.
A lie is not a lie when it is an answer to someone who hadn't the right to ask the question in the first place!

definetly. the truth can hurt. but its the way that the truth is handled that matters. whatever results from being honest is what probably would have happened anyway.
