why are they afraid of the U-tube style debates?

are they afraid of getting a real question from a real person?

i knew it was a matter of time before someone compared the dems not wanting to be 'clintoned' on fox news with real americans asking real questions.
if fox wanted to be taken seriously they would need to be a little less obvious about their conservative bias.

seems to me that the republicans really lack the ability to stand on their own and take unstaged questions as they come.

indeed, what does this say?

The Democrats did and it yielded some great insight into the candidates minds. Unfortunately the GOP is scared to death to talk real issues these days. They seem to do anything and everything to get out of discussion of real issues. They dis the Democratic candidates for looks, past mistakes, price of a hair cut etc. Anything but the issues. It looks like more of the Karl Rove mantra for them.

The You Tube idiocy was not a debate is was a joke. What is really funny is dems claim to want these open questions and yet they are scared to go on a network where they'd be asked those very questions. Instead they do a debate where a select group of idiots ask a pre-determined questions (In other words the network decided which questions fit into their desired format).

So your 'real question from a real person' spin is nothing but a bs line that has no substance. The debates should help us discern which candidate we want to elect in the primaries. Instead the dem debates have been nothing more than a BS circle jerk that keeps the less popular candidates from answering more than a few questions.

What I really like is your hypocritical, typical lib bs response. What you want people to believe is FOX is the only network who shows preference. The truth is EVERY network shows it's preference but only the Democrats are too afraid to go on a network that does not support them.

Liberal hypocrisy gets funnier and funnier. Everything for everyone unless we disagree with them.

The historical record attest fully to the fact that thec elitist Republicans/conservatives have little to no use for democracy and even less use for "WE,THE PEOPLE".

Just google it and you will discover that Republicans have fought hard to stop having the US referred to as a "democracy" and demand it be called a "REPUBLIC " which is simply a euphemism for non-democratic system of government or one that is so minimally democratic that it effectively is not.

Additionally ,Republicans are scared to death about having to directly answer to WE,THE PEOPLE for their total support for the war mongering Bush who choice to wage an illegal wart based upon a pack of fithy lies that has seen the slaughter of over 400,000 innocent Iraqi civilians.

WE THE PEOPLE want to know why these LEMMING Repubs just did as Bush told them to and NEVER HELD HIM ACCOUNTABLE and NEVER STOOD UP FOR THE CONSTITUTIONAL POWERS OF CONGRESS as the Dems are now trying to do.

As most of these slime bags are playing a political game over Iraq in not coming down firmly on either side ,they certainly do not want WE THE PEOPLE asking questions that will out these lying/carpetbagging plutocrats .

Because the YouTube questions were, in general, stupid.

If a responsible news organization cannot figure out what questions the people want answered, and cannot figure out by themselves enough good questions to ask, then maybe they are overrated.

It's a silly stunt. Let responsible, recognized people ask critical questions, not the shlubs like you find here.

You mean the "Whipped Cream" debate of U-tube which even CNN said no hard questions...

Why wouldn't the Dems debate on Fox? what are they afraid to debate outside of the choir.

They saw how juvenile the first YouTube debate was and don't want to be involved in something that demeans the process. Are the "real persons" you are talking about asking "real questions" people like the snowmen and people playing hard rock guitars? Not only is such idiocy a waste of the time of people whom we should be focused on evaluating their ability to lead the country...such a forum is a travesty and makes our country look positively STUPID before the rest of the world who are also watching.

Because they wouldn't be able to get their talking points out, they wouldn't be able to say, "9/11" as many times as they would like to, and they wouldn't be able to reincarnate Ronald Reagan as many times as they would like to.

Seriously, it is in fact rare that Joe Q. Public gets to voice his opinion directly to a presidential candidate. Usually the questions are filtered by the media, and answers are rehearsed by the candidates.

I thought the You Tube debate was a farce. All of the questions were screened and picked, before hand by CNN. There was nothing extemporaneous about it. CNN is a known nest of left wing liberal loonies. Republicans run the risk of being set up. I am sure you are aware that Democrats have refused any kind of a debate on Fox.

In the incredibly rare event that real Americans are allowed to speak, they're very thoroughly screened first. You or I would never be able to speak to them on camera, they have huge security forces to make sure.
