My mechanic charges me $160 every summer to keep the air conditioning running. He has indicated to me that the car can be sold for $1,000. The blue book value on the car is around $1,400. It has around 131,00 miles along with a couple of dents. It just passed the emmission inspection. There are no other problems with the car. Also, my investments into this car are that the tires are new, and it has a really nice stero system/speakers with an extended warrenty. What would be a reasonable price to sell this car?

800-1000. It is hard to say without seeing the car.

Why not have the AC repaired correctly and then save the cost of having to recharge it every year? YOu can also buy a recharge kit from an autoparts store and do it yourself. The kit comes with a gauge to let you know when it has the right amount of freon. But the cost of a seal and having it installed will cure the problem for good.
