Guns do make us safer. Legally owned guns! That is the big difference. Look at what happens to states that allow conceal and carry. Their crime rates go down as much as 15% in Texas. Do the research it is clear.

No. There has not been any reliable study that the presence of, or use of a gun makes anyone safer.
In fact, most studies show that when a gun is present in a home, a family member is more likely to be involved in an accidental shooting.
Americans believe in exercising their 2nd Amendment right sometimes to the detriment of their society.

Guns are not allowed to be owned by individuals in the constitution anywhere. The second amendment allows the states to form a militia and arm the people in the militia, but the government and the states can and do create many laws baring certain weapons.

Highest rate? Hmmm...
Anyway, let's take D.C. for instance. It is illegal for law abiding citizens to purchase a gun in D.C.
Criminals know that it is illegal for law abiding citizens to purchase a gun, so they go right on in, and commit crimes with guns. Why?
Gun laws are for law-abiding citizens to obey. Criminals don't care about the law.
So, who gets punished? The law abiding citizen does.
If you are a criminal with a gun, would you go inside a home in D.C. where the owner can not buy a gun, or go inside a home in Texas or Virginia where the owner can purchase a gun? D.C. of course.
So, guns for law abiding citizens make us safer.
The liberal courts don't uphold the laws, and release or lessen sentences to gun-totting criminals. This angers the Police Officer who risks his life to bring the criminal off the street and into the swank courtroom of the judge.
So, guns for law abiding citizens make us safer.

You may want to look here for some statistics:

John B- why is it then that in every other Amendment the word
"People" means exactly that, but not in the 2nd Amendment?
A militia, in the day, was every able-bodied man, therefore the People.

guns are not at all protection. if we dont sell guns in the first place to those who dont need them then why the hell would we keep one in our house where a child can reach it easily. break ins and gun points can be avoided completely. i dont know if that makes sense but you catch my drift.

I believe that violence and crime would both drastically DECREASE if it were REQUIRED that every adult citizen, both male and female, carry a concealed weapon.
