Why is it that people construe me wanting to keep more of the money I earn as greed?

Isn't it more greedy for other people to want what I earn for the hours I trade my life for?

Isn't it more greedy for people to not work and to expect a hand out for doing........nothing? (and don't tell me that some people just can't work--my bro. is as disabled as they come and he works a regular job and has bought his own house etc. He does get some govt. help, but he still gets up and does something for himself!

I'm not rich, I don't make 6 figures and I certainly didn't grow up rich or even middle class for that matter. My parents didn't expect hand outs and neither do I--I just want to be able to keep more of what I earn to be able to provide for my OWN family.

I don't think the intention is to take your money to give it to someone who doesn't work. Sometimes when people put it that way it's construed as "greed". I don't make a lot of money myself, I am taxed to death, I am putting myself through school and I've got a child with a disability that I receive no help with. I work very hard at my job. I don't expect hand outs either. However, I do give back because I consider myself more fortunate, there are others who have much less. And I don't judge another's circumstances. I could be them, or they could be me.

I can't fathom the greed that my eyes have been recently opened up to! I guess some have a way of life that I don't understand. I would be a happy girl if I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach and am able to pay my bills. To see that largess to which some have become accustomed blows my mind!

I can understand how you feel. Though my feelings on money wasted go more towards the Iraq situation, since I don't believe we should have ever gone over there.

I work 2 jobs so I can support just myself, and keep a little extra each month, for any unexpected expenses. And no, I don't earn minimum wage but I certainly don't earn 6 figures each year either.

God bless you..you sound like a true American working hard to take care of yourself and yours.

one should expect to keep a larger portion of what they earn rather than give it to the government for entitlement programs that perpetuate the dole.

i don't know when big business and making a profit became a crime in so many ppls viewpoint...but most liberals seem to think so. penalize success and reward the whiners is fast becoming the mantra.

I agree with you and applaud you for speaking out even though the good-doers are going to climb all over you. There is nothing wrong with helping people. We donate to charities all of the time. Government coercion and taxing people to death for more social programs, shouldn't be allowed to happen. Let the government clean up the wasteful programs and pork that they have now. If they did that, there would be plenty of money for 'useful' things.

I think you are completely entitled to your opinion. I just do not share it. We have trillions that are wasted on other countries. I would rather spend this money helping Americans. We have different points of view, but I could care less about your money or anyone else's for that matter. I work with disabled people and admire your brother, but there are people that aren't able to work and they will fall through the cracks if they are not taken care of. That is unforgivable and immoral, IMO.

The people who infer that the premise of your question is "greed" are delusional.
Simply remember that the party of "redistributed income" are generally the democrats and then vote accordingly.
In my humble opinion, our overly generous, social welfare system is pretty much out of control and has done more to help destroy the American work ethic than all of the other government expenditures combined.

Yes. It would be nice if overtime was tax free, that would truly reward the hard workers... those that own two jobs or take on extra hours.

It is tha appeal to pity poor me as it were. You earned your money with your skill or education they try to earn theirs by biting or nipping at you heels.

They are not just greedy but lazy doless idiots do not feel sorry for them unless it is true friend.

"Many of you are well enough off that [President Bush's] tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to have to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
