It doesn't. Whoever says it does is a either a liar or a fool. There are terrorists all over the world and the occupation in Iraq does not prevent any one of them from coming to the United States and bombing us.

What would prevent terrorism here is a stronger homeland security. We need to secure our borders a lot more so no illegals can enter. Right now there are people who really don't mind illegal aliens. Has anyone every thought that a terrorist can fly to Mexico and then illegaly cross the border into the U.S.??? We also need to make a law to inspect 100% of all airplane baggage, not only carry ons. We also need to inspect all incoming containers into U.S. ports, not just 5% of them. We need to have better communication between all our security departments. That means between the FBI and CIA, between the FBI and state police, etc.

But does fighting a war in Iraq help? Absolutely not. The president keeps saying we need to fight them over there so they don't follow us home? Whoever buys this logic has to be completely oblivious. Anybody remember the JFK Airport bombing plot that was stopped by authorities? Neo-cons, tell me how and why those terrorists got into the U.S. even though we are in Iraq?

We have spent a half a trillion dollars in Iraq, and have accomplished nothing but encourage more hatred for the U.S. in the Middle East, encourage more ordinary people to become terrorists, and have created a large breeding ground for terrorists. Whether you want to believe it or not, Saddam Hussein was an ally on the war on terror. He did not allow any terrorists in his country before we took over. So this war does not prevent terrorism here, if anything it causes it.

It doesn't

They have been warning about a "Summer Attack"

Remember!

If they were fighting terror instead of occupying a Middle Eastern country in the middle of a sectarian civil war - we wouldn't be having to worry about a "Summer Attack"

And no - "WE" don't fight them over there!

Our "Troops" fight them over there - die over there - and never come back over here!

They are now targets to draw in terrorists so Bush can keep this going as long as the huge war profits keep coming in!

And these insurgents they keep calling al-Qaida in Iraq are not al-Qaida! They are Iraqi's fed up with being occupied and they are the very Iraqi's we armed and trained!

Wake up

Now on top of terror - we can expect blowback as well

9/11 was a complete failure of our government and security on the airports. As early as 1970, planes have been hijacked by terrorists in Europe and The USA had ample warning. Now, with at least some security in place, the rather dumb terrorist will have a hard time to get another thing going.
Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with Security, its a political disaster and a military mess

No, not at all.

Because the world's entire terrorist population is NOT all in Iraq -- so our being in Iraq does nothing to stop the terrorists who are in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Lybia, Singapore, Malaysia, England, Spain, Morocco, or the US.

It only prevents US from being able to go after them in those other countries, because all our focus and forces are locked dealing with Iraq..

We fight them over there so we won't have to fight them over here...

Counterterrorism expert Juval Aviv spoke with FOX Fan Central about what Americans can do to protect themselves in case of a terror attack.

Do you believe another terrorist attack is likely on American soil?

I predict, based primarily on information that is floating in Europe and the Middle East, that an event is imminent and around the corner here in the United States. It could happen as soon as tomorrow, or it could happen in the next few months. Ninety days at the most.

So, is fighting them over there really working?

I dose not prevent anything, it has shown the terrorist how to bleed us to death, It has shown our military weakness in fighting a guerrilla war, it is a training ground for tens of thousands of terrorist that is going to increase danger to not only the US ,but the rest of the Western world. All because of that Idiot Bush that never thought of anything but defeating the Iraqi army. This war will go down in history of one of the worst blunders of all times.

Well ya, duh, haven't you noticed all the hearts and minds we have won all over the world. Now every one will work with us.

and after all what could do more to crush Islamic fundamentalist terrorists, then overthrowing a brutal...but secular dictator, opening up the country to al-quada, and pushing for democracy so they can elect Islamic fundamentalists who are connected to Iran (They are our friend, right?)

No, it fosters it by pi$$ing off muslims, who then want to avenge their religious brothers. I think we don't get it at all.

Well to some degree it does because many Al-Qaeda members are in Iraq fighting our soldiers.
