Is it possible to get my car inspected if i turn off the check engine light? My dad is taking it to a man tomorrow to see if he can get it inspected but i don't know if it will work. Should i get my hopes up? Its the transmission that is coding.

once you take the light off it will show in the inspection computer that your car is not ready for inspection and it needs to be driven at least 60 miles for the car computer to record someting called 1trip. So do not waste your time.

I agree with Daniel C. When our city had the inspection, they would not only plug into the OBD connector and read the codes, but they would also put your car on a dyno and make you run it up to 35-40 miles per hour, and check the actual emissions that the car put out.

Since it is a transmission code, it may not harm you. Pulling the light bulb was a waste of time, most likely.

They plug a device into the OBD connector and the computer tells them everything they need to know. Just disconnecting the dashboard light won't fool them.
