It is neither good or bad.
Just like liberals are neither good or bad.
There are always people who look at things differently.
What is bad is when one thinks the other is stupid for not agreeing with them or hold one side to a standard they themselves can't maintain.
Or when it is reduced to name calling than that is bad too.
We need both conservatives and liberals to balance things out.
