. If some of the family members are old enough to clean, I suggest you make a list of things everybody can do . I clean my home like this.I normally clean one room everyday , Buy setting my alarm clock to off in 15 min´s time , working in the one room , never wasting time taking thing´s back to their rightful places . I leave them outside the door till I have finished . When I stop I always sit down and have a rest, if I feel I should carry on I do the same again . Set the clock for 15, min´s. I always reward myself when I have finished a job, no matter how small. I clean the bathrooms at night before going to bed, less to do in the morning, My washing machine has a timmer, so I program the machine to come on early in the morning , so my clothes are already washed ,and ready to hang first thing. Even if you put your machine on at night First load of washing out on the line , pop in the next load of washing. I find that by doing 15 , min´s here and there makes a big difference.. I also think if you come home from a hard days work and have to start cleaning straight away will make you feel worn out even before you start. So, recharge the batteries before you start , by putting your feet up, or even stretch your body , lay down for 1/2 hr, and you will be ready to go.

Hi, I am also a busy FT working mother of three with no house cleaner and alot of property to take care of too. I always try to keep the basics neat and organized daily (including dishes, laundry etc..). I rarely have enough time to tackle the whole house at once so I try to do a few projects at a time. One night I would do a few bathrooms in entirety, maybe another dust and wipe down items in the whole house, or half the house, another day vacuum everything. Before you know it, by the end of the week, as long as you kee up with the basics, the house will always be clean. Of course vaccuuming some rooms can require every other day. And your family can at least help by picking up after themselves (making beds, putting toys away, dirty laundry, dishes in the sink or washer, etc...)

So, you have this big house and you have a family that under no circumstances can help you? That's borderline suicide..

Anyway, I would pick a day and strip all the beds and wash the linens.. While the linens are seperated/washed I would take a gallon or two of bleach and dump a cup or two down the toilet drains and wipe the counters with antibacterial wipes and have a lg. trashbag to dump the garbage from each bathroom.. Also spray down each bathroom tub/tile surround with a 50/50 solution of bleach and water and come to that later... Unload/load the dishwasher, vacuum all the bedrooms and common area's of the house. Wipe down countertops and sweep the floor.. Lastly, wipe down the tub/tile surround, clean mirror and sweep/mop bathroom floor.... Then on another day or two work on the finished rooms

if you have kids over the age of about 10 you should make them do chores, if that is not the case try having a cleaning service come in at least twice a month that is what i do and then i am able to maintain a clean house...everyone needs a little help sometimes i hope this helps!!!

I agree Joanne A.W. Do it one room per day. Start with the upstairs or less trafficked areas first, and then work your way down to the first 2 floors or more used areas. I have the same problem, and I HAVE TWO 16 YRS OLD AT HOME!!!... They are boys, so it is nearly impossible to get them to do anything. But this system has work for me so far...

Good luck,

If you have kids, make up a reward system. For every chore they completed they get $1 or a treat (depending on the ages of the children). This will give you some peace and keep your house cleaner.

I take one room per day and clean from top to bottom.

Another thing that is good to do is swish out your commode each morning right after you get dressed for work.

I applaud you in wanting a neat and clean house.

There is a website called FlyLady she gives you your sanity back. ( they do try to sell you some things but you don't need to.

And there is HouseFairy for the kids, she works for santa and leaves trinkets for kids if their rooms are clean and they mind their parents and whatnot.

Make children make/clean their own beds. If they don't, don't do it for them. Do your own bedroom. Clean children's bedrooms once a forthnight. 4 baths is too many for one person. Get help from kids or hire it. Basement does not need so much cleaning if you don't dirty it.
