OK....no now there is a system in place that keeps tabs on what cold medicine you buy. Once you buy it, you are placed in a system that monitors how much and when you buy it...

What's next? If they can do this with medicine, what else will they use this technology for?

I guess people really WILL take whatever the government gives them....wonder if they are tracking personal lubricant to see who is getting ready for the next thing the government is going to give us.

I guess people really will let the government do whatever they want in the name of "the war on "

i can't imagine what else they can do.
They track our movements through debit/credit cards and cellphones.
they track our internet usage, our phone usage and our utility usage.
they know what we drive, where we work and where we live.
they could know what we eat and wear too.

added. the tracking of OTC cold/sinus medicine is not tracking meth dealers it has cut down US production of meth/crank. the result, increased production and profit for mexicans.

I remember the seven-eleven purchase tracking that allowed targeted marketing from twenty plus years ago. Implementing that data portal was a warning. The corporate agenda is the precursor of the acts of the government. Technologies are used to manipulate behavior for profit by corporations. The same systems are used by the government for their own ends: bureaucratic expansion.
"Why are you swiping my ID? Show me the taw."
For those that think there is no harm done, I refer you to the post above, which reveals those beyond jurisdiction will profit.
Edit:
If the big pharma profits are affected by the 'controlled substances' approach to data collection by the feds, how will they continue supporting all that advertising? Suggestion: big pharma will respond by making even more addictive substances, and find direct marketing or direct delivery methods. They will not suffer, despite the harm done, one way or another.
And, for a response to a question with a link, at least read the linked article to see the information triggering the question, please.

This is how they track our meth labs. Is that such a bad thing? And in case you didn't realize a lot of this has been going on for years now, but it didn't change your life did it? All this need for privacy but then all the complaining when everything is running amok cause no one is taking control. None of this is to find out your personal buisness, you are a nobody, but it's to keep tabs on bigger issues like terrorists, drug dealers, etc. Be glad someone is trying to keep an eye out.

No offense meant, but it could be the best thing that ever happened to America, since the mass majority of people are prescription drug addicts, maybe they have recognized the damage that has been done by the governments handing out so many free drug's they have created millions of addicts, however it's a bit late to close the door after the horse has bolted. America = Hypochondriac.

How can they track you buying cold medicine if you pay in cash? Unless they are reviewing the security videos and putting your face through recognition software...but that seems to be an awful waste of time and resources.
