Hello I am about to enter my final (senior) year of High School and my grades are as follows:

GPA... 3.8-3.9
SAT critical reading 460
SAT Math 530
SAT Writing 430

I am... slightly paranoid about this, but I guess I still have a whole year left. But it would be nice to get some opinions now. thank you all (this is my first time using Yahoo! Q&A... if that matters)

I would say your GPA is shining, but you may want to reconsider taking the SAT's again. Take a prep class and try again. Also, it depends on which campus you want to go to. University Park (or main campus) is a bit more competitive because of the name, but other branch or alternate campuses may be easier (except the Erie and Hersey campuses). Consider what you want to do and what campus is best for you. The smaller branch campuses you can defintely get in with that GPA. Chances are though, even with lower SATs, you'll get in. GPA shows constant work, where SATs show you can't test very well, which is typically of freshmen. But you will learn....TRUST ME!

I'm also going to be a senior, and I am planning to attend Penn State.

Your GPA is good, but those SAT scores are a little bit low. Take a prep course, and then take the test again for sure. Aim for an 1100. I am an SAT Master, and if you need psycological tips before test day, e-mail me.

Good Luck, maybe I'll see you in a year =)

Your grades, which are the one thing you really can't affect very much, are fine for Penn State. Your problem will be with the SAT; all of your scores are on the low side. If I were you and really wanted to get into Penn State, I would take a test prep course, then retake the SAT. Since you have been a good student, the fact that all of the scores are similar leads me to believe that it could just be that you aren't good at taking this type of test.
