80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

If life is to be considered then all we have is part of life, the happiness, the pain, the sorrows and delights, things that we like and the things we dislike, even death is but a condition in life, the questions and the answers all is life. What would you include and what will you leave out when trying to give meanings of life in words? For the purpose of answering the question asked here the meaning of life is exactly what is the meaning of you asking your question. This question might not be complete and encompassing but it is wonderfully correct.

Life is beautiful. Enjoy the things that God gives you and put to your sight, in the correct way as God command. And if you look for Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, you will see the most beautiful things that God has prepare for you to see in this life and in the other life, together with Him. Read the Bible and learn the secrets of God, and the meaning of life.
Listen, we were in God's plane. He created the first man and put the seed into him to procreate and to multiply his future generation. Male and female he created them. He said it, and it was done. Genesis 1:27-30).
¿Could you imagine Lord God looking to His creation? Imagine yourself when you create something nice, and perfect, how happy you can feel. So, God has feelings too. So, God is the one to give the breath of life. But He does not charge you for it. So, if he gave life to human being, why some of them want to take their own life out of this world. God bless us with a free will, like He has. But He gave us his own law, make covenant with the man, and rules to follow for us obey Him. I am not talking about men's laws. When we obey God, things runs right. Some people do take their own life, and by doing this foolish thing they go straight to hell, because of their own ignorance, for not knowing God's will. (Romans 10:3-4).
By God side and believing in Jesus Christ, His word, you will discover the greatest secrets of life. Be blessed.

The meaning of life is not within the answer at all but within the question of life itself. What do you live for?

The meaning of life is to realize our eternal constitutional position as spirit souls. We are not this material body, IE race, color, nationality, religion, job, mind, intellect, senses, etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. This material is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery. Only one fourth of the souls come here, (the less intelligent ones,(that's us) The rest are enjoying eternal, blissful, loving relationships with our Maker, named above. If we don't know the goal of life we will come back to the material world again and again. (Reincarnation) If one wants real peace and happiness then they should take up the process of self realization, (Bhakti yoga) and give up this false bodily conception of life. For info read Bhagavad Gita as it is By Bhaktivedanta PRabhupada- tells how to end all suffering and transcend this material illusion. asitis.com You can read it on line. also go to harekrishnatemple.com for more info. I have found, and am so satisfied.

Everything hangs on one’s thinking. (…) A man is as unhappy as he has convinced himself he is.
Seneca, Roman philosopher and politician, Letters to Lucilius
What difference does it make what your position in life is, if you dislike it yourself?
Seneca, Roman philosopher and politician, Letters to Lucilius
Not happy he who thinks himself not so.
Unknown ancient roman or greek authorship, cited in Seneca Letters to Lucilius
Happiness is an ideal of the imagination, not of reason.
E. Kant, 1724-1804, German philosopher, Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Ethics
Your life is not lying in wait in the future like a wild animal or some ominous destiny. Nor is it hidden in the heavens, like a paradise or promise. Nor is it shut up in the cave or the prison of your past. It is here and now; it is what you live and what you do. At the heart of being; at the heart of the present; at the heart of everything – in the great current of life, of reality.

Many say its writing a book, having a child and planting a tree, others say the pursuit of happiness, yet others say its the search for its meaning itself what gives it a meaning, some others it doesnt have a meaning. personally i think the whole point of the universe is just beauty, everything exists and ceases to, just to be a part or in order to create eternal beauty, yet to many beauty is meaningless
