It is said that history is written by the victor. There may well have been abuses by both US and British forces, but there is no record of either force using rape as a weapon.
The Germans however and Italians were notorious for this, as they saw there conquests as less than human. They Italians were no where near as bad as the Germans, but this was only because the Italians swapped sides when they realised that they were going to lose.

My dad was in the British Army in Italy in WWII and he wouldn't have touched the Italian women with a bargepole, most of them were hairer than their men.
I have never heard this although there are always these sorts of crimes wherever an army is based. I'm sure Italian soldiers did their fair bit wherever they were stationed as well.

Many terrible things happen in wartime. Many truths get distorted and intentions misunderstood.
War crimes tribunals can only hope to deal with the most serious. I'm sure many British, US and Italian soldiers did much that they aren't proud of now.
But you've coped with this for 60 years, why are you suddenly all concerned now?

regrettably, the deployment of massive numbers of youthful adult men right into a antagonistic atmosphere incorporates specific disadvantages. U.S. troops are held to a reasonably intense prevalent and are punished for such acts. while you're wondwering why some did such issues, i could no longer say. I even have in no way been so prone.

I think that just about hits the spot. At Nuremburg Hermann Goering summed it all up when he said that in wars there will always be the victors and the vanquished.
Deseperation is always a bad thing....just ask Marry Antwanet !!!

I think you'd better learn the English language if you want to use the UK YA site. What is your first (and only) language, by the way?

People do bad things when they are facing death. They often become desperate and frightened, doing wrongs that are not in their character and suffer with their conscience in the long term.
