My husband and I have been TTC Baby #1 for 2 Years.

I have irregular cycles (usually short) and today is cycle day 28 for me. Today I have very light pink spotting only when I wipe, so instead of making myself think there is still a possibility of pregnancy, I'm accepting the fact that it's most likely just my period starting.

To pass the time and keep my mind off of it, could anyone tell me what cycle day you are supposed to start using OPK's and when you should stop? Never used them, going to try it this month. Thanks.

Are Dollar Store OPK's worth buying? Do they work?

Aww, don't think negative! Remember, implantation bleeding occurs right around your expected period, or the day of. For all you know you could be preggers, so test in a day or two anyway. Secondly, you should start using opk's about 10-11 days in. And keep testing, untill you get a surge? And when you do, go at it like crazy until a few days before you expect your period. Best of wishes to you, and always remember

it is hard with an irregular cycle i would start like around CD 6 to be safe... this mean lots of OPK's though. i bought mine this month from early-pregnancy-tests.com they seem to work fine (haven't ovulated but that's not there fault) have never got a dud (IE no lines appeared at all) i bought the test strip ones they were way cheaper!!!

i also bought the OV watch to try next month if it don't work for us this month (this is month 4 for us)

my periods have been slightly irregular due to all this TTC stuff it really does stress ones cycle alot. any where form last months 24 days to my normal 29 days

since i have had a more than stressful month this time (email if you want to know more hun) we just kinda are just going to go at it like bunnies from now on... now that I'm half way through my cycle. here i'll attach my BBT chart i cant figure the damn thing out LOL

remember it very well could be implantation bleeding

i have been watching your post friend and i believe you re all ready well past your earliest AF 14 days right? 28 days sounds good!!! have you HPT'ed yet? please let me know when you do!!!

all the baby dust in the world to you Good luck my fingers are crossed for you

Cheers!!!!

Just some friendly advice for anyone TTC for more than 4 months
1) SEE your OBGYN as soon as possible.....
They can usually give you some good practical tips, as well as doing bloodwork to see if your hormones are normal. They can also do several tests to make sure your fallopian tubes are open, and look at your ovaries by ultrasound to see if you are actually releasing eggs.

2) If you are not already, START taking PRENATAL vitamins NOW... especially FOLIC ACID a lack of folic acid in the first few weeks of pregnancy can cause spinal cord defects in the baby.

3) Drink at least 64 ounces of WATER a day good hydration helps with lubrication and can make it easier for the sperm to get to the egg.

4) QUIT stressing, have fun with your spouse and relax.

5) Ovulation Prediction Kits are helpful, but are not 100% accurate, especially if you have irregular cycles, you may have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and not be releasing eggs at all, that is why you should see your OBGYN to see if you are functioning properly.

Hi there,

I have been told to begin using OPKs on Cycle Day 10. Good luck. That most likely is your period, I agree, but you have a much better attitude about it than many others! Maybe next month? Hang in there...

Sorry about the spotting, I know how disappointing it can be.
Here's a chart that tells you which day you should start testing based on your cycle length. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/opk.html
Stop testing after you see a positive result. One other thing caught my attention--you say you have irregular short cycles, have you ever thought about luteal phase defect, LPD. Basically the second half of your cycle, the luteal phase, is too short for a fertilized egg to implant in the uterus. Chart your BBT, if you don't already, and if your LP is under about 12 days you may just have a LPD, which is completely treatable.

Getting your period can de disapointing huh? I wanted so badly yo be preggers from our honeymoon, even though we werent trying. When I got my period I too felt a huge let down and made my husband pin down a date when we can actually really start to try....6-8 months he what he said. Good luck sweetie, and keep the chin up. Good things come to those who wait.
