DO NOT USE BLEACH!!! I have a similar problem and have just done some research.. all of it says chlorine bleach will set the stain... which means its too late for me!! Use something with an acid base like vinegar or lemon juice and put it in sunlight to dry

It's not worth the trouble. Toss the shirt and buy a new one. Then toss all the wire hangers and buy plastic or wood.
Even if you get most of the stain out, some will still be there. You'll be much happier with a new shirt than one with a stain you always know is on your shoulder.

Whink Rust Stain Remover- it comes in a little brown plastic bottle and it works like magic. My husband had a rust stain from the weight bar at the gym and a month later I used this product and the stain disappeared!

I don't think rust will come off to be honest but give it a good soak in some bleach and some of that oxy stain remover stuff, then boil wash it with more oxy stain remover, it gets rid of most things my children manage to get on their clothes but I cant say I've ever tried to remove a rust stain. If all else fails dye it a dark colour!

First, lay the rust-stained fabric over several white paper towels, which will act as a blotter and absorb the rust. Cut a lemon in half and saturate the stain with the fresh lemon juice. (Bottled lemon juice will work, too.) Set the fabric (with the paper towel blotter beneath) out in the sun to dry. The rust stain will disappear. Launder as usual.

I'd sprinkle the rust stain with salt and lemon juice and put it out in the sun. Otherwise I'd by a stain remover for rust and use that.

I use Yellow Out. It's great for rust, dinginess due to age and iron in the water. Think I got it at WalMart. Kinder on clothes than bleach......anyway in our hard water bleach turns whites slightly yellow anyway.

Try soaking it in cold salt water before you wash it. Put some stain remover into your machine wash too for good measure. Hope it works, it gets ketchup, tea and grass stains out of my childrens clothes!!
