Try Enquiries to the imperial War Museum, or the Royal Naval association, Public Records Office, or the Ministry Of Defence.
Each of these should be able to help you with dates of service of ship, where it served, how many crew where on board and if you have your dads service number, where he served, which department, rating and service record.
Hope this helps

My dad (past in 1993) was in WWII on board the USS Mount McKinley. This ship was in WWII, Korean conflict, Vietnam and retired in the 1980's. When he died I was looking for someone that knew him during the war. I found that his ship had an association you could join so I did. They alternate each year, West coast/East coast and I try to attend but most of the WWII veterans are too feeble or dead.

Point is, I am sure this ship has such a membership. It should be easily found on the internet (Google the ship) or call the British equivalent to our Navy Department.
