Sounds like it would be very nice looking, but I'm afraid it would quite quickly rot in your tank and you would be out the feather as well as have a polluted tank on your hands.

Yes. It is completly unsafe for your fish. If you put the feathers inside the tank then your fish will think that it is a real plant and then they will eat the feather and the feather pieces could clog your fishs' digestive system. Now, if you put the feathers on the outside of the tank, such as taping them to the glass, then your fish would have no contact with the feathers and they could not possibly be harmed. If you would like something black and white in your fish tank, it woudn't be a fake plant but many pet stores sell acessories for fish and you could possibly get a black and white decorative item. Many pet stores that sell fish have black and white castles, skulls, fake fish ( such as minute sharks),ect. I have a fish of my own and know whats best for it. I hope this helped you.

You can treat the feathers enough to make it safe for your fish but it would make it make the feather pretty nasty looking. You might want to get some black and white rocks instead. There are a wide selection that would fit. Go to a fish store rather than a chain store and look what they have. PetSmart and Petco don't carry a good selection of these.

I wouldn't risk it. As other people have said, the feather decoration may have harmful chemicals and other stuff that could harm your fishies. Also feathers aren't very easy to clean when they get algae on them. And if the feathers are dyed, the paint will seep out and do damage.

I wouldn't. You don't know what kind of bacteria is on the feather, it could be deadly to your fish.
