I have just gone on the pill (Microgynon 30) 2 days ago! My period is on the 21st and the doctor said I can take the pill straight away. Is that right? I heard you'll have to take the pill when your period starts or afew days before? Can anyone help please x

Typical instructions are the first sunday after the start of your period. You never start before pills before your period, and it's fine if your bleeding has stopped by the time you start the pills. It just needs to be near the beginning of your cycle, but after bleeding has started.

I'm sure it's fine if your doc had you go on it a few days later than that. It's still the same basic timeframe, and you're going to have to wait for a certain amount of time before relying on it anyway.
