Can A lodge a caveat?

Is this English law? I have worked in an English law firm for many years, but I have never heard of lodging a caveat. That doesn't mean that it doesn't exist, though! See a lawyer - it sounds complicated.

I worked in law for some years and I only used a caveat in Admiralty law when a ship was under arrest
