We all have aches, pains, colds, headaches, etc... at one time or the other. If your really sick the first step is to call your doctor. He/She should call you in a prescription an or recommend that you come into the office.
Even if they just call in a script to the pharmancy, tell the doctor to call your employer, and explain to them, why your not coming to work today, and... how many days they recommend that you'll be off.

Get the wife to call most of the time. One reason is I rarely call in when I am not sick, and 2, she is much more convincing?

I call myself. If you are too chicken to call yourself, that means you aren't really sick, and you shouldn't be calling in anyway.

When I do I call myself, but I hardly ever call in sick. For one, I feel so guilty when I do. Not to mention that I can't make money by sitting on my butt all day!

I've always called myself except for one time when I was, literally, so sick I couldn't get out of bed.

Only time I have not called myself was when I was really sick with an upper respiratory infection and had also lost my voice.

I worked for the post office and they required that you call in yourself.
