If you want to supplement your baby's diet or just want to keep her fingers busy, I would highly recommend you find something more nutritious than crackers, especially at such a young age. Also, my 2.5 yr old once choked on an oyster cracker and we had to call 911 to get him breathing again. So I would never give a baby a small cracker like that. I would use something smaller like o's cereal (cheerios or a healthier version) or rice krispies.
Also, I highly recommend this website http://www.askdrsears.com/html/3/T030100.asp
and anything in print by Dr. Sears. He has some great books out there.
Besides the choking hazard, I personally would not recommend you give children crackers of any kind "regularly" because they are not very healthy. Start to read up on nutrition and read labels and you will find that lots of packaged foods are not healthy, for you OR your child. I personally do not use jarred baby food or cereal either. I did with my first child , but after that, my other three children have simply eaten what we eat, starting with soft fruits and veggies, oatmeal, and yogurt. For instance, for breakfast for my baby when he started eating cereal (about a year old) I simply gave him 1 tablespoon of plain oatmeal (not packaged, but made fresh with hot water and oats; I actually put in powdered oats to thicken it also; to make powdered oats, simply put 1/4 of oats in a blender for a few seconds and then you can store them in a plastic container; I use about a tsp of powdered oats and a tablespoon of whole oats). Eventually I added yobaby yogurt and natural applesauce. He still eats that most mornings now, and he is two.
Good luck, and happy reading!!

All three of my children were gumming soft food and crackers by 6 months old. Zwieback (sp) toast from Gerber is the first cracker I gave them. All three loved them, and none of them choked. I watched them very carefully, and either held them upright or had them sitting in high chairs to eat them. NEVER laying down! The Zwieback teething crackers are made not to flake or break into small pieces when baby gnaws on them... they dissolve into a thick paste instead.
But the best advice I can give is to ask your doctor. If your doctor has been seeing your baby regularly, he/she should have a good idea of what the baby is ready for.

I agree with texas angel. Only u can decide what is best for baby based on his mashing skills. Some kids just eat other things early. I started my daughter on cereal at 4 months. She soon wanted more. By 6 months she decided she doesnt like baby food and wants what we are eating. She has 2 teeth and mashes things real good. She likes pasta and chopped and steamed veggies. And she loves ritz crackers and those puffs that one person mentioned. Just watch u will know

I wouldnt give goldfish just yet. Gerber makes little finger foods made for children your daughters age called PUFFS they melt in her mouth. Check them out. Also you can give her soft table foods if you havent started by now like mashed potatos and such. You can give her anything that isnt to chunky she's only got one tooth but should be able to mash soft foods with her gums.
Use your judgement as a parent only you know what your childs mashing/eating skills are like. My son was started on soilds just shy of 3 months per his dr's request and if he's been tellin folks for over 20 yrs to start on soilds because they mentally ready at 2 months who was I to second guess him. My son was 5 weeks early and is now 14 months has no medical or health problems and is ahead of his birth age developmentally. At 6 months he was eating small finger foods and any soft foods that we ate. Your the parent hon you know whats best but no matter what you feed your child make sure they are seated while eating and you are in the room watching.

anything that can disolve fast in their mouth is fine goldfish are a little more harder for them but if you give her half of one instead of the whole one is better. i suggest softer crackers like the ones with butter.

No, she really needs to just have rice cereal and formula. Maybe mix some apple sauce in with the cereal. She needs more teeth for crackers. Also, she needs to learn to chew better or else she will choke! Good luck.

no too early for that, check with your doctor, my son is 7 months old and his doctor only has him on stage 2 baby food. finger foods aren't good till like 9 months and above. He has 3 teeth but they have to get used to foods in stages.

yes, the best crackers to give her would be saltine or butter crakers. They also have the baby cookies and biscuits you could give her. They help with teething also. I would be carefull with gold fish just watch her and make sure she doesnt choke.
