Menstrual irregularities and other side effects can last for 6-8 months after your last shot. For some women fertility returns immediately, while for others it can take 6 to 18 months or longer for your body to get back to normal again. So pregnancy could be possible. In this case your best bet is to see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test, as this is the most accurate way of testing. Other reasons for period abnormalities include stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst, amongst other reasons. If the blood pregnancy test comes back negative, your doctor can do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be.

It could take up to a year or two to get your periods back.

I went on the pill after my last depo shot and it came back in three pill packs/months.

i don't know much about the shot, but i would suggest to make an appointment with your doctor. missing a period is never good, and it's always better to be safe than sorry.
