Are they all fools? most marriages in the US are done with a Christian minister or priest but that doesn't make marriage Christian. There are billions of Chinese that have non christian
weddings so I suppose that takes away from the sacred part.
They like to use this stupidity when arguing against gay
marriage as if Brittney spears few day old marriage to her friend
was a sacrament. How do they explain Americas astronomically high divorce rate?

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH SAYS THEY ARE THE ONLY CHURCH, AND ALL MARRIAGES THAT ARE NOT PERFORMED IN THEIR CHURCH, ARE NOT RECOGNISED BY GOD. (recently re-affirmed by the Pope)

kind of like the Taliban----if you are not us------- you are BAD

P.S. I'd like to know Chapter and verse that the bible says marriage is only between man and woman
IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE---King James

Regardless of the religion, the vows taken are sacred. Vows to be committed to your spouse. Doesn't matter, if your Christian or not, or who you worship. Has the United States made divorce easy? yes, I agree with that. On the other subject you pose concerning "gay" marriage. The Christian faith recognizes the joining of two people in marriage as a man and a woman. Now I don't know how other faiths see marriages. But the intent is the joining of two people of opposite sexes. Who are we? those who are not divine to judge? That's up to those who are considered the highest in their "respected" religions to set the standard for permissible marriages.

i don't know any christians that believe that it's a sacred CHRISTIAN thing.... including myself. most would say it's a sacred UNION between a man and a woman. there's nothing christian about it. it's more or less a morality thing. a human thing, for lack of a better term. the astronomically high divorce rate you speak of is due to 3 things.... 1)more population, therefore more chances of things like divorce to happen.... 2) the lack of morality by the masses, it's become more and more acceptable to do things and say things that wouldn't have even been brought up 50years ago...including divorce....3) the increase of stress on families is undeniable. we have to deal with things that didn't exist when the divorce rate was below eyebrow raising numbers... you combine all that, you get the high divorce rate.

Well i appreciated you taking the time to make us feel less offended. I can agree with you and say that saying homosexual is a little less offensive than saying gay. But personally I really don't care. I'm okay with gay, homo, queer, whatever. Because its who i am. I'm proud of who i am. So it doesn't offend me when someone calls me gay, homo, or queer. It does get a little more offensive when someone calls me a fag. Because it seems that term fag is used towards flamoyant gays and im far from that. But in the end i wont make a big deal about it. I do understand you point and its very interesting because it happens all the time. But there are different type of gays and its crazy but there is still discrimination within the LGBT community. So i want to say thank you for taking the time to actually ask us what we felt was best.

explanation; this generations and the baby boomers lack of commitment and inability to control their actions. they think life is just a free for all sex, drug and rock and roll party. they quit something when it becomes to hard and want praise even in failure. parents are going on job interviews with their college graduates. marriage is not a Christan thing. marriage signifies a man and womans commitment to each other and it does not include several men or women. now all of this may be particular to the USA but it is what it is. i have nothing against civil unions for gays and as a matter of fact it is a good idea as relationships generally insure some stability which is good for the community. but to use brittney as a standard would be like using bill clinton for fidelity issues. too extreme.

the Christian aspect of their argument comes from their reading in the Bible that marriage must only be between a man and a woman.

I don't think it involves whatever church you get married at making the marriage more "Christian".

I am a Liberal Christian and what many Christians don't like to point out is that in America, the divorce rate for Christians is higher than non-Christians. The Bible gives one one reason for divorce - infidelity. Gay marriage is not the biggest threat to marriage - divorce is.

Easy answer. The Christian Right are full of sanctimonious fools. They are only interested in one thing: temporal power. They use the Bible to help them bring more gullible people into their fold so they can be fleeced and sheared like the sheep they truly are. Calling them sheep isn't even an insult to them, because Jesus is their shepherd. Ask them.

Last time I checked, there were people getting married (man and woman) in Egypt 7000 years before Christianity existed, so I don't know what speudo-Christians are thinking.

As far as I'm concerned government should keep it's nose out of religion.. if they want their religious ceremony to exclude gays.. well that is their right.. but that also means no tax credits for religious marriages. And if Gays want to create their own church that allows Christian marriages.. that's their right as well in my eyes. Also, the only thing that should get the tax credits are the government recognized civil unions.

It's impossible to explain much about the "Christian" Right except to say that life would be both quieter and more pleasant if they all went back to their home planet.
