I LOOK AT THEM RIGHT IN THE EYES SMILING AND ASK "ARE YOU HAVING A BAD DAY TODAY?"
THEY USUALLY GET EMBARRASSED AND IT TAKES ALL THE RUDENESS AWAY..
TRY IT, IT REALLY WORKS.

♥ My mom does the same thing your dad does... I mean do people have to be so rude? It really irks my nerves. I work as a receptionist/customer service so I deal with customers ALL day... and I can tell you the pleasant ones get more attention and better service than the rude ones. When a customer is screaming at me I normally just say please hold and put them on hold... they can scream at the phone for a few minutes... and I've had people that were still screaming after I'd put them on hold for 5 minutes.... However I'm NEVER rude, because its just not my nature.
♥ The other night my fiance went into a gas station to purchase 2 sodas and a couple other things... she set the stuff on the counter (less than a hands length away from the lady) and the lady had the nerve to say "You need to move that closer to me..." I was like what a *****! She moved it... but I would have never moved it. I would have been like "I'm sorry but I thought it was YOUR job to scan my items so I could purchase them... would you like me to come back there and get paid to do the job your supposed to be doing?"

My mom always said kill them with kindness, but I would probably do what your dad did.
Recently my daughter (she is 11) and i were at the mall at a salon, we had a hand basket with about $200 worth of hair care products and my daughter had to use the restroom. The clerk said that because we were not customers she couldn't use the restroom. It did not matter that we were purchasing a large amount of products, we weren't getting our hair done. Needless to say, before I left the girl was in tears, and I did not make a purchase.

Kill em with kindness it will drive them crazy. Be sweeter than molasses. I saw a woman be very very rude to a concierge at an airport the other day. she was yelling, causing a scene, she slammed a pen down in the girls hand. Next thing I saw was 2 police officers taking the woman away. Not worth it. Hold your anger and redirect it at the gym or something else.

you may make one final attempt to get her to handle you better. you ought to declare some thing like, "i'm no longer very experienced with banking -- it particularly is the 1st self sustaining account i've got ever had. sometimes i'm going to have questions that would look person-friendly, yet undergo with me -- i actual prefer to be responsive to those issues." maybe she will grant you some pamphlets positioned out with the help of the financial organisation that specify diverse debts and their situations. You sound like a particularly clever guy or woman (ought to be, as a manner to get into college, suitable?). in case you keep getting the evil eye from her after that, it's time to allow her superiors be responsive to. regrettably, she'll probable basically get a verbal reprimand, and then she'll particularly need to take her embarrassment out on you. maybe the subsequent time you bypass to do your banking there, you ought to take alongside somebody else as a witness. She could be much less keen to handle you rudely.

Well, I am bigger than a lot of the snotty people out there, so I probably intimidate them.
I either kill them with kindness, or just ignore them and leave.
I always try the kindness bit first and smile. Hopefully it will make their day and then they'd be nicer to others after me.

What a sweet childhood memory.
I usually start messing up things on the counter to get their attention.

I'm only 14 but when I was in 7th grade I had to be an office aide at my school and this lady called and wanted to talk to the custodian. I told her that he was outside. She demanded that I go get him. I told her that was impossible because he was outside working, I didn't know where he was, and he couldn't be disturbed. The woman claimed it was impossible that the custodian could be unavailable, basically called me stupid and inexperienced, and demanded to speak to an adult. So I put her on hold, didn't get an adult for her, and never came back. Hehe...

good for your dad... i wish i could be more like that. i used to deal with snotty, nasty rich people all day long. & it was my job so i had to be a perfect employee while they acted like idiots. some of that has boiled over into my own life. i've learned to be more passive about dealing with them. i try not to allow myself to get upset.

I work in retail, and I've seen just about everything. I've never been one to believe "the customer is always right." If someone is rude to me, I don't pretend to be pleasant.
