I was just wondering what are some ways that I can label my babies or mark them to tell them apart. I had twins, but they are still in NICU and I wanted to make sure that when they get home I don't get them mixed up!

Kaci, they don't have bracelets on with their names on it, they are preemies.

You will be able to do it on your own soon. My twins are identical and I have to see their faces to know who is who. You see very subtle differences that no one else can see (not even dad!)
For the time being the painting of ones toenail is good. Or you can use a sharpie to mark the bottom of the foot with the letters of the first name. I never had to though because one of mine was way bigger than the other at birth because of twin to twin transfusion.

You will be amazed at how easy it will become to tell them apart - they are very different even if they do look alike. I have Identical and fraternal twins in my family and the personalities of the fraternal are more alike than the identical. For now just put them in opposite color t-shirts that will give you the visual cue without causing them any discomfort. Hospitals don't put bracelets on preemies because their skin is fragile so a t-shirt is better. Good Luck!

I like the anklet idea, just make sure it is not cutting into their skin but won't come off either. Maybe like those little thread friendship bracelets - but tiny? You could put it on one of them and by the time it was too small you'd likely know them apart just by their personalities. Good luck to you precious little ones in the NICU, hope they are home with you soon,

I hate to burst your bubble, yet there is often one distiguishing mark which will constantly be there and you in all probability subconciously pass to that along with your eyes. All comparable twins have a miles better twin and a smaller twin, notwithstanding the trate could be very very fair, and the typical public do no longer notice it while that's reasonable. those people who've a look ahead to artwork and indoors layout tend to notice it no remember how reasonable the version.

In due time you will be able to tell them apart just by their personalities but for now you might want to have their initials put on their socks or even on some of their clothing. That way it will not only help you out but other as well.

The toenail polish thing cracks me up. Very nifty idea. I'd just paint one toe though. My mom's friend used a sharpie on one of her twins' necks, like a little x on the back of her neck... it lasted just long enough for her to figure out that the twins' hair swirled different directions.

Well, you could put a little dot w/ a perm marker on the bottom of one of their toes to know which one it is. I saw a couple that tattooed their babies little toes w/ dots, but seems kinda cruel.
Maybe one of your family members can go pic up a little bracelet for each of them, but if their that small might not fit.
Your the momma, you'll know.

I truely wish you & yours the best girl! I love babies, my baby just turned 4 yrs. old. : (

God Bless!

Do a search for birthmarks and other slight differences. You can also cut their hair slightly differently when the time comes. Jewelry or a baby anklet would be great too! Good luck and congrats!

You will learn to differentiate your babies, they will look completely different to you in no time. At the beginning you can put a silk ribbon of different colors in their wrist. I knew of someone who tattoo their twins but I don't think is a good idea.

never dress them the same!... They should have like a color like say baby one's is green and baby two's is blue like say they have that color crib and color socks and color car seat and blankets, also (since you probably already have bought stuff that wasn't specifisc colors) when you bring them home check them closely and see if like one has a birthmark that the other doesn't or one might be bigger then the other as they get older they get a personalilty to be easeir to tell them apart :-)
