americans are not that different to anyone else really .....ppl are ppl some good some less good
When other nationals have a complaint about "yanks" it's either they are too loud or too insular
When you find an american who is neither of these you wont find a better friend
It's a tradition in england to be cynical, don't worry about it
Oh...........one small gripe.Americans hardly ever give a top answer for anyone who isn't one of them. It's as though only an american could possibly know the answer or all foreigners are out to trick you

I like a lot of groups from the USA from the 1960's, but the USA in the 60's was a different beast from today (people actually going out & protesting to change things like Civil Rights etc. The views of many non Americans are coloured by the actions of your Evil President. If you voted for this creep I can't see many people having much time for you. If on the other hand you are as much anti Dubya as most of the rest of the World then I am sure you'll be welcomed with open arms.

I'm an English Scot (born in England, live in Scotland) (also have Scottish, Danish, German and Irish blood in me) and my best male friend is from California. However I have had fun reading the battles between the UK and US users on here.
I don't hate Americans, just the ignoramuses and bigots that are on here no matter where they are from.

I am a Brit and like and indeed love some Americans. So much so that I married one and now live here.
I agree this site does seem to bring out some asinine people, but don't let them get to you. There are several sort of people who use this site and one of them is a group of people who just like to put down and criticise. That is not the true picture of the average Brit.

Yes I like Americans...but like all nations there are good and bad. And who knows I might be slagging off one of my blood relatives from way back so best keep my thoughts to myself.
No people generalise and I think that Amercians are percieved to be loud mouthed and uncouth whereas my experience has been one of politeness and goodmanners.
Don't take it to heart after all the English come in for some unjust slagging from all around the globe. Some justified but mostly not.
Hands across the sea...

I am American too. Most people in the UK like us very much. There are a few on YA who make their displeasure with Americans known and say really ignorant, hurtful things about us. But that is not the average person in the UK. Most people don't like Bush (who does?) but they like the American people.

What planet are you living on!! .... Scots, Irish, Welsh and English are one of the few places on earth where the majority like ye and support ye. ( also just because someone disagrees with your polices does not mean they don't like you.
now ask the same question about continental Europe, middle east, etc.

I'm also an American and in travels to the UK, I found that the people are generally very friendly and accepting of us as long as we behave respectfully while in their country. Their over-all impression of Americans may be that we're rude, but most of the people I met were adult enough to know that each person must be judged as an individual.
