i want to fill my portable system base with water NOT SAND....because i've just found out that 1 litre of water = 1 kg of sand so don't just answer my question by saying 'use sand' cos it's a retarded answer......

ok my question is DO I NEED TO ADD ANY CHEMICALS (E.G CHLORINE BLEACH) INTO THE WATER IN MY BASE TO PREVNT ALGAE FORMING, IF I DO THEN WHERE DO I GET IT?

You can get chlorine at your local pool store, but you shouldn't need any

I used water in my basketball base for years. All I added to it was 2 gallons of the pink antifreeze that is used for potable water systems (i.e. antifreeze you use in an RV fresh water system).

If you live someplace that it won't freeze you don't need the antifreeze. If you only have water in it and it freezes the base will break/crack. You want the potable stuff so that if it does leak you won't kill the lawn, dogs etc.. vs using regular anti-freeze.

I don't know why you care if algae builds up, you won't see it and it won't hurt anything. But if you must, I reckon a quart of bleach won't hurt. Doesn't take much bleach.

Put more weight on it and keep the weight towards the back of the base. This will proportionately make it harder for it to tip and fall.

You really don't need anything in there...algae isn't a real big problem
