Everyone should have access to health care. Insurance can be very pricey but my wife and I are very fortunate in that the company we work for provides Insurance. I've recently become disabled due to health problems and the insurance company has become a pain in the as*. They have searched every avenue to escape paying and have delayed compensation. I'm thankful for what has been done and the help but these people have turned out to be rude, and hatefull in communications and delays are normal. The first delay was for over two months.
I can't go into more detail here for there isn't room but let me say that it's much worse and like getting blood from a turnip.

I do not have health insurance because the plan currently offered by my employer is a complete waste of time.
The medical benefits have a yearly maximum of $5,000.00 and the prescription benefits have a yearly maximum of $300.00.
The amount I would pay to keep the insurance is about 92.00 per month.
I am definitely in debt, and the larges two reasons are student loans (which isn't much of an issue, because I'm still a student), and medical bills.
A great insurance plan at a lower cost would be amazing -- then, maybe I would be able to afford the medications I need. . . . We did a thing for work where we were looking into an insurance company -- they premiums increased to about 100 a month, with a $2,000 deductible, or premiums of 150.00 a month with a $500.00 deductible.
In all honesty, I make $14,000.00 a year -- if I were to participate in either of those plans, I still wouldn't be able to afford my medications.
Isn't that ridiculous?

Exactly as everyone has said. We sit here and complain and gripe about insurance premiums and that it doesn't "pay for itself".
However, all you have to do is go to the hospital one time without insurance. They will bend you over and screw you with the bill. It's enormous.
Then, you'll appreciate having an insurance plan.
I didn't have insurance when I was bitten by a brown recluse. I was seen by the doctor about 5 minutes and the bill was $800. Add that up. That's $1600 a hour for that doctor.
Man, I wish I had insurance that time.

i think we do need insurance and i'll tell you story. we didnt have insurance, my husband went to emergency room and had to have surgery right away. this whole surgery and 10 days stay at the hospital costed us a bill of $40,000 thats after self pay discount of course. the original one was $120,000.
during all this i find out i could take insurance and have these bills sorted out. after the whole ordeal, we paid $500 deductable. right now his medication that would cost us $200/ month costs us $60 with insurance

You cheated. You asked way more than one question. I have health insurance through an HMO. It is worth the money I pay. The benefits in my plan are satisfactory to me. I think my plan is the equal of others. I don't know who is "friend or foe." My credit rating is very high. I have no complaints about my health insurance, either cost or service.

for me---young, single, healthy---health insurance is a gamble. i pay for health insurance through work, which pays for half of my premium. but i'm still paying almost 300 dollars a month! for someone who is rarely sick, this is hard for me to stomach, especially when i have student loans and a car payment to worry about on top of everything else. i know it's important to have, because if i didn't have it i'd probably end up in the emergency room. it's so frustrating to know a company is taking advantage of the probability that i might get sick.

Yes we have health insurance, and yes it's worth it. I've saved lots of money myself by having it. You do know that medical bills CANNOT damage credit rating, right?

Yes, it's OK. This one is about the same as the others I've had in the past few years, but my copays went up, my premiums went up and the service is still the same. I haven't had any trouble with them in the past. I am having a lot of trouble with copays for specialist visits. My salary hasn't gone up to match the cost of premiums along with gas, utilities, etc,

I pay for my own healthcare insurance. I don't have an employer to pay it for me. It's worth it to me. I take care of myself and don't want or need anyone to take of me.
