I am completely with you on this one.
What's really happenning in these cases are;
Petty people hiding behind the facade of honesty and letting their jelousy speak.
When I was training for triathlons I had people telling me that these are nation-wide events and those people have been competing as professionals with sponsors for years etc.
Yet, still, because of my background in waterpolo, I kicked butt, if I may say so myself, and won medals and trophies in my own category, each time.
So, apparently, all their "honesty", wasn't really that honest.
The truth is, a lot of people confuse being obnoxious with being honest. Some may say things to take away your self-confidence because they are in some level intimidated by you.
The only honest opinion you would need are those of your loved ones and they would always find a way to phrase things in a kind way.
Hope this answers your question.

Your horse is sick, and instead of having a vet out to see her and help her, you just want to put her down? Your horse is limping because it injured its foot in the wire fence, and i assume it has yet to be seen by a vet. Ever think the weight loss may be tied to the problem thats causing the spasms, Heat, & coughing? Call your vet. The horse doesnt need to be put down, she just needs help. ADD: Just thought i'd add..my 22 year old gelding (who is also my games horse) ripped through barbwire this winter. Had gashes running up all 4 legs, the poor boy could barely walk. Had the vet out, and within a week i could start taking him for short in hand walks. i devoted my time and energy into him, making sure there was no chance of infection. 5 months later, he's completely healed, and is back into work. our first competition is only a week away.

Some people do. I don't care though, I'm totally comfortable with myself. What is more annoying then the comments they make is that they actually think I care. I do get sarcastic too though. But it's so annoying because the comments are so unnecessary. "Hey, did you realize you're wearing a size 6 now?" when we're out shopping, and I'm just like "No, really, I must've missed it."

My mother and a co-worker have been hounding me constantly that I needed to cut my hair because I am just too old to be wearing it long. So, I finally did it and absolutely hate it. I know it will grow back but although I have gotten a lot of nice compliments I don't like it and should not care about what everyone else thinks if I am not comfortable in my own hair. Lesson learned.

I accept these comment and think if the comment is beneficial to me or not. At work, women tells me to cut my hair short, all the time,I braved and ask a guy , I told my girlfriends that I value this guy opinion not to cut my shoulder hair length because he has a good taste ,he has pretty wife.the respond is oh well ,mens like long hair so they can put their hands to it. I am not comfortable to be sarcastic, I think I should learn that ,that is finess, I am down to earth and raw.Like>>" You don't pay my bills and feed me so you have no right to run my life. Or You are not my father to tell me what to do. Thanks I learned from your style.

There's a difference between being honest and being an a$shole...people who say stuff like that to me (right now it's: Gosh you are gaining a lot of weight so early in your pregnancy!) usually get a smart remark back...my current retort is "At least once I have the baby, MY gut will be gone..."

Just being honest is passive aggressive b/s 101. I was raised with a mom that can tell you how wonderful you look and the words she uses leave you feeling a step below ugly. My response is to say that comment was a frontal attack on my emotions...knock it off. She's 82 years old and not likely to change her spots...but when it comes to my reaction...the change was life saving.

That's right next to "I'm just telling you as a friend." I've only once had someone say that, who was actually looking out for my well being, and not being a self-serving jerk who's trying to tell me how bad they think I am, or what I'm doing wrong.
You go with the come backs. They deserve it.

yeah, they're called IN LAWS... but they act more like OutLaws if ya ask me.
I've heard "Maybe after you have your baby you can finally lose some weight" (after I just found out I was pregnant with my second kid. The comment made me cry after I walked away). I also heard "You look peakid" (I think that is how you spell it) when I felt fine and I thought I looked good. I guess I didn't.
Sometimes ya gotta ignore the dumbasses that are out there.

I noticed that your picture has gained a little weight. Your face looks puffier. Have you been carousing and staying out late? Your best friends won't tell you this, but someone has to. It is for your own good. You can thank me later.
