Wolfmother! They Are A Hard Rock Three Piece From New South Wales Who Are Heavily Influenced By Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple And Black Sabbath. Their Frontman, Andrew Stockdale, Is Vocally A Cross Between Robert Plant And Jack White. Their Self Titled Debut Album Is Absoloutly Terrific, I Think They Have A Lot Of Potential. If You're An Open Minded Led Zeppelin Fan I Reckon You'll Like Them.

No modern band is like Led Zeppelin. Forget skill comparison; is there a mainstream modern rock band that plays with blues influence? Only person I really know of is recent guitar legend John Mayer. But he's not of the heavy metal genre. To combine blues and metal and then experiment with other genres like the Beatles did, no one can ever duplicate such greatness.

And for the record, for that one guy, it'd be wrong to say Led Zeppelin is the best, because the Beatles have impacted the way people view music and popular culture, along with being one of the best-selling acts ever. Led Zeppelin is my favorite band, but they aren't the best. No one is the best.

And for the other guy, classic rock is not an actual genre, but rather more of a concept. It's basically popular music from the 1960s to the 1980s.

Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest and there isn't a modern band that comes close to what they've done.

I myself am a huge Tool fan as but that's comparing apples to oranges. They put on an outstanding live show just like Zep but they are from 2 totally different eras. Good tough question.

Yeah, though it pains me to say so, Wolfmother might be your best shot, though Audioslave could possibly fit. Maybe the Black Crowes, but that's pushing it. There have been some comparisons made between Zeppelin and The Decemberists' "The Tain" EP, which is actually just one long song in 5 movements I think. It's pretty awesome, though I'm not quite sure it fits your need. Sorry, I couldn't help much more. The LZ is just too great and unique to have any comparison in modern music.

While not even close to being as good as Zep, the modern day sound equivelant would be Wolfmother. And if you want another modern day band with a classic rock feel, check out The Sword

The Mars Volta. Cedric sounds like a Mexican Robert Plant, and their guitarist is SICK! The percussionist is really good, too, like John Bonham.

And I agree on Wolfmother. Have you heard White Unicorn/ Reminds me of Stairway to Heaven.

But you can NEVER get Zeppelin again...sorry.

Bands like Zeppelin don't come around very often. Since their breakup, not one has yet; but there is no way I know of to predict the future.

No...Never will recreate what Zeppelin did. It was the beginning of that sound. Mixture of blues and rock, played louder and harder than anyone at the time. I will be copyed for years to come.
