We have 2 laptops connected to a lynksys wireless router, comcast server. Both worked fine until yesterday, when mine stopped connecting (the 2nd still works fine). Any advice on how to trouble shoot this?

Because laptop 2 still works, the problem is not the ISP (Com Cast) nor is it the router.

The problem is with laptop 1. Make sure the wirless is turned on as it may have been shut off by error. Check the wireless config on laptop 1 as someone may have changed a config setting. Be sure to validate it against the router config for wireless. If all is in order, the wireless device may have burned out and a new pcmcia based wireless port may be needed.

My first guess is that the problem is a wireless shut off or a config error.

There's a couple things you can try. First off make sure all your lights are comming on in the card. Once that just to verify electicty is flowing to the addapter. try uninstalling it and re installing it. When doing this unplug your router and modem just to reset the connection and clear out any cached data. ONce this is done re try it. IF it still doesn't work.

Then go to your device manager (tring to remember don't have access to DM on this work computer) and look under the network adapter section to see if it installed correctly. If it didn't theres a way to check windows for drivers and find the one you needfor it in there and install it

Need more info like the version of Windows...

If it's XP and you have XP managing the wireless connection, then you need to go into the network settings, right-click the wireless connection, and select "Properties". On the Advanced tab, you'll see a list of wireless connections (it may only have one - the linksys you have at home). Remove it, then readd it.
