I am from Detroit MI. I want to go on a affordable, fun, relaxng weekend getaway with my boyfirend. I was thinking in september....

Weekend as in Friday Sat, sunday...I do not want to fly(can't afford for it to get canceled...A train would be good though. I live in MI...some where close....
FL is kinda far...Mexico...no where near MI...

How about Key West? If you are open minded, this area can be a great place to visit! It's like a different world - all sorts of people, fun bars & shops - although some of the large chain stores are starting to buy up the areas along Duval Street & the number of quaint shops is dwindling :(
There are nice places to eat, fun things to do - and people-watching is fun there! I generally stay at a B & B when I visit - the owners tend to be very accomodating. Relax by the pool, go to the beach, deep-sea fish & take your catch to the Raw Bar & they will cook it for you any way you want it, bike ride to see the island...it is fun & relaxing! At night, "performances" are put on by local people on the docks, grab a bite to eat & party down the street. Southwest flies out of Detroit into Ft. Lauderdale and you can find great rates, then rent a car & enjoy the drive down to the keys.
