I mean he struggles to say 3 lines about it and then goes into lambasting Congress. Pathetic!

em, I have a lot of respect and sympathy for the those touched by the tragedy. I have family there too. That's why I feel the President's comments were lacking. What I had the most trouble with was that instead of giving a few comments on the disaster then stopping. He goes on to make unrelated political comments that had nothing to do with the events. It would be like if after 9/11, when he was there in NYC with the bull horn and said what he said, but then he would continue and say "by the way, Congress is not cooperating in passing a tax bill." Its called "appropiateness".

I hate it when any politician goes to some disaster scene or comments on a disaster without having any real idea what the people there are going through. It is almost as if they give a canned speech because it is the politically wise thing to do - not out of any real empathy. My heart goes out to the people in Minnesota. I think a real issue this has to bring up is our crumbling infrastructure in the US. This bridge was given a rating of 4 out of 10 when it came to structural integrity the last time it was inspected. Why was it still open? Why are we not investing in fixing our own infrastructure?

Oh shut up....this is a horrible tragedy and instead of saying..."what about those poor people and their families, we should try and do something to help!" you bring up some stupid sh.it because you are too simple minded to see the forest for the trees....stop worrying about what you don't like and worry about all the people that died in the unfortunate accident!

As a matter of fact "I" am (voice of reason my butt).....my point is every time something happens people seem to forget about the lives lost and concentrate on Bush's speech....yes he is a very bad public speaker....but that is not what should be the center of attention!

Yeah, instead of critizing someone who is trying to help, maybe most of you should try and help out too. It is a horrible tragedy- show some respect. I have friends who were in that collapse.

Too bad when misguided children proclaim their igonrance on public forums. I think you should mind Mark Twain's words: It's better to keep silent and be thought a fool, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. Peace
