For sorcery fantasy:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, and a short review of each book.
Horror: there is only 1 good "pure" horror book I ever read - Dracula, by Bram Stoker. It's free online, and it gets an *excellent* rating.
The following should also be free online and they are also all excellent:
Jules Verne
..Journey to the Center of the Earth (dinosaurs, giants, caves, exploring...this one has it all)
..20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (giant squid, atlantis, more exploring, supposedly the first description of a working underwater breathing apparatus, supposedly the first one was designed directly from this book)
..Mysterious Island (sequel to 20,000)
..Around the World in 80 Days (more adventure than scifi)
Arthur Conan Doyle
..The Lost World (dinosaur adventure)
..Sherlock Holmes - all stories are available online in nice PDF format
H.G. Wells (scifi)
..The Time Machine
..The War of the Worlds (really great)
..The Invisible Man
Rudyard Kipling
..The Jungle Books (talking animals, invention of The Law of the Jungle)
I hope this helps.

Asimov -- mostly sci-fi, but also some mystery.
I like his short stories best: I, Robot for instance.
Also his Foundation trilogy (actually, the first half of it is what I like best).
There are a LOT of collections of his short stories; most of them good.
Also Arthur C. Clarke (again, mostly his short stories).
If you've never read Jane Austin, give her a go; she's my fave (just fiction, not a genre).
