I just got a new ge fridge, the side-by-side model with a water and ice despenser. The despenser is supposed to control the temperature inside as well as despense water and ice and all that, but i tried pressing buttons, and nothing lights up or makes any noise or anything! I made sure it was plugged in, I checked the manual over and over, and I even called the company! We still can't find what's wrong with it. The inside of the fridge and everything else is working fine, but we just can't get the outside despenser to work and light up. Can anyone please tell me whats going on? Thank you so much!

call the place where you bought it and tell them you need to have someone come and check it cause it does not seem to be operating properly and you should not have to pay for this cause it should still be under warranty . good luck .

All appliances carry a 1yr manufactures warranty. Besides the fact that you just purchased it. If the unit doesn't work properly, the the store where you bought it from should fix or replace it without charge to you. Its call Consumer Protection Laws. In my opinion, Ge is not a quality appliance. Choose a different model. Ge manufactures brands, also including Kenmore, so ask the sales rep. to check the model number for the maker, before you get a replacement.

Kate and 43 are correct. Get the company that you bought it from to shoulder the burden or call GE. Unfortunately, all new fridges are designed to fail and they do. Some are worse than others. I like GE because I work on them and have all the parts in my truck. I find Kitchenaid and all Maytag products the worst, including Jenn-air. and like 43 said, Kenmores may be made by anybody, but you tell by who by the first 3 numbers of the Model no.

I had the same problem with my new GE side-by-side also & the circuit board that controls the dispensing of water, ice cubes, crushed ice, needed to be replaced. That panel flips off & the new board pops right in. We hadn't used it that long when the problem occured but once the service man replaced the board, it has worked beautifully ever since.
