The San Andreas fault runs along the northern boundary of the San Gabriel Mountains until it crosses over at Cajun Pass. Thereafter, it runs along the southern boundary of the San Bernardino Mountains until it goes through Coachella Pass. Then for the rest of the way it runs on the eastern boundary of the San Jacinto Mountains towards the Mexican border. The three highest peaks of Southern California, Mt San Antonio, Mt San Gorgonio, and Mt San Jacinto, are all next to the San Andreas fault.
