There are always exceptions, but for the most part you should. A relationship cannot thrive if it's based on lies. However, if your significant other has, for example, gained a few pounds and asks if he or she looks fat; you might not want to be completely honest. Sometimes to protect harmony and avoid any hurt feelings, it's better to tell a little white lie. It's never OK to lie about something that would affect the other person though, such as cheating.

Yes and no. You need to be honest and open about everything, it is better that your partner hear things from you rather than from another source. However, certain things you shouldn't be so honest about. Such as if he asks what you thought of his mother's well thought out and loving cooked casserole that tasted like a sponge. Then it's OK to give a white lie. But when it comes down to it, it's always best to be as honest as possible when appropriate.

I think totally honesty is more of an ideal than a practical way to live. You have to omit some things and not be totally truthful all the time. You've seen Liar, Liar I'm sure. If your spouse asks you what you think about an outfit and you really don't like it, do you hurt his/her feelings with what you perceive to be truth? Never lie just for the sake of lying,....but you have to know that you can't always just speak what's on your mind without repercussions.

Not 100 percent but maby 95 percent. I would never tell my guy something I new would hurt his feelings. But I would want to be as honest as I can so that he knows the real me.

It makes things much easier. I can honestly say, the only time I've lied to my wife was about presents, etc. Something that I don't want her to know about at the time. But the truth eventually comes out anyhow when I give her the present.
