As of the good captain concern i think the one of the best captain of Indian Cricket Team was Sourav Ganguly, Although he cannot give the world cup to India as given by the Kapil Dev but as he take responsibilities of the Indian Team when all the players are excluding some were ne and youngsters and he train them to perform and win the matches India as well as Outside the country under pressure no one can again do that in future. So, that`s why he was a best captain in the Indian cricket team.

You can't compare.
Among these four i would say (in descending order)
a) Kapil Dev: very experienced and one of the best captains of India
b) Sourav Ganguly: less experienced but still. Won many matches for India.
c) Rahul Dravid: another great name for captain. Current captain. Will lead India to many more wins. India won 17 consecutive games while chasing under him.
d) Sachin Tendulkar: not at all suitable for captaincy.

All time best 5 Captains of India are:
1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. Mansur ali Khan Pataudi
3.Kapil Dev
4. Md. Azharuddin
5. Sourav Ganguli
BUT best captain was, without any doubt, SOURAV GANGULY, THE PERFECT WINNER.

Ganguly is the best captain.
Ganguly may not be Mike Brearly, but he has the attitude to the game that Kapil Dev had. It doesn’t matter if you’ve the best brains in the game - unless you are Gary Sobers, you need to get others to bat, bowl and field to win the game. If people put enough heart into enough winning, they can make miracles. And that is what a captain needs to do first and foremost. I feel Ganguly did this.
After India had beaten the Australians in the epic series in 2000, Steve Waugh said of him: "I can’t say I get on well with him, I’d be lying if I said that."
His opponents love to hate him. The critics denounce him as the most tactically inept captain India ever had.
But he is competitive, emotional, loves to win and can inspire his team mates to a level far above that of the opposition. He is Sourav Chandidas Ganguly -- 'Captain Snooty' to the British media.
With five away wins, he is India’s most successful Test captain overseas.

Ganguly with out any doubt. He built this team from scrap. But for the match fixing episode,Ajay Jadeja could have proved to be a good one too. Nevertheless, the Indians needed attitude with their own brand of cricket and Saurav gave them one! Needless to day but Rahul took over an already strong side and is right now consolidating what Ganguly achieved in instilling...Fighting Spirit and a self confident bunch of young turks.

Sourav Ganguly can be rated the best and then comes Kapil and Azhar. Even though the former hasn,t won the world cup. Sourav could have done it had he been the captain for this world cup...but unfortunately he wasn't.

we can say sachin but as aplayer not as captain because we lost most of the matches which we played in his captancy.it would be Rahul but not him.
yhe best captain is Kapil Dev because of his and his teams hard work we won the 1983 world cup.which no other captain of India had done.
